Student answer (Band 6.0)

I agree with the given statement. Mnany people and I also believe that through internet, air travel, trade and cultural events, globalization has increased. The increased interaction between nations through globalization is a good thing. Internet literally made the world a global village. It becomes quite easy to communicate with people of various cultures and ethnicity. In past years, language was the barrier but now through softwares and apps like Google translator it has become very easy to communicate if one donot know the local language. Social media creates curiosity among people to travel and explore places which they see on reels, shorts or tiktok. In Pakistan we have en example of Gilgit and Chitral, famous for its gigantic mountain ranges, diverse culture and languages. There are many popular festival in gilgit baltistan and Chitral which are major tourist attraction. Not only people from Pakistan but all across the world visits Gilgit to experience mountain summits, Polo festivals, waterfalls, lakes and cold deserts. In my visit to Gilgit I met many tourist. They are all compelled by internet reels to visit Gilgit. Internet made trade easy and diverse today which then improved globalization. Through Globalization, Nations interact with trade, sports, film making, education and defence. A recent example when Pakistan signed a defence agreement with Saudi Arabia due to trust and same ethnicity. Similarly many Dilgit (An indian Punjabi singer) fans travel from various parts of the world to attend his concert. In conclusion, Globalization give rise to better public relations like trade, defense and tourism.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the view that globalisation is a positive development and providing a personal opinion. The writer presents a clear position and supports it with relevant examples, such as the tourism in Gilgit and Chitral, as well as trade and defence agreements. However, some ideas are slightly repetitive or underdeveloped, such as the brief mentions of sports and film-making which are not fully elaborated. The discussion tends to rely heavily on personal or specific regional examples rather than broader global arguments, which places this response comfortably at a Band 6.5 level. According to the descriptors for Band 7, the writer addresses all parts with a clear position, but the depth of extension and support keeps it just shy of a solid Band 7.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion. However, the paragraphing is a significant weakness, as the entire body of the essay is lumped into one excessively long paragraph. This makes the progression of ideas harder to follow than it should be. Cohesive devices are used, but sometimes in a mechanical or repetitive way (e.g., 'Internet literally made...', 'Internet made trade easy...', 'Through Globalization...'). Referencing is mostly clear, but the lack of logical division into distinct paragraphs prevents the score from reaching a Band 6.5 or 7.0. Therefore, a Band 6 is awarded as cohesion is sometimes faulty and paragraphing is inadequate.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'gigantic mountain ranges', 'diversity', 'compelled', and 'public relations'. There are, however, several lexical errors and spelling mistakes throughout the text, including 'Mnany', 'do not', 'dilgit' (Diljit), and awkward collocations like 'compelled by internet reels'. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded and the meaning remains clear. The lexical range is sufficient for the task and fits the Band 6 descriptor well, as the vocabulary shows an attempt to use varied terms but contains noticeable slips in word choice and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Internet literally made', 'If one do not know', 'Globalization give rise') and punctuation/capitalization errors. Complex sentence attempts are occasionally faulty or awkwardly phrased. Nevertheless, these errors do not impede communication, and the basic meaning of the sentences remains accessible. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptor, which notes a mix of simple and complex sentence forms with some errors that rarely impede communication.
