Student answer (Band 5.0)

It has been argued that in recent years the internet increased air travel, trade and famous culture and globalisation. Many individuals believe that this increased interaction between nations with the help of globolisation is beneficial.

This is a valid point that internet has changed our way of living through its easy and understandable platforms such as airline websites. In the past when internet was not popular amoung people they used to go airline offices to book their tickets but now they simply book tickets on one click with the help of internet.

Internet also made trade very convinient because people simply check the good products and price on E-Commerce websites and order in bulk. these websits automatically checks the order and send a confirmation message to the person's given phone number who can track his order.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response is severely under-length, containing only 136 words against the required minimum of 250 words. Because of this, the student fails to properly discuss both sides of the view or give a fully developed personal opinion as instructed by the prompt. While the writer attempts to address globalisation and its interaction through the internet and trade, the ideas remain heavily under-developed and abruptly cut off. For instance, the discussion of E-Commerce websites remains superficial. According to the official band descriptors, a response that fails to meet the word count requirement and leaves major parts of the task undeveloped cannot achieve a passing score above Band 4.0 in Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some basic paragraphing, separating the introduction from two body paragraphs. However, the overall organisation is disrupted by the very brief and incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are minimal, relying on simple connectors such as 'This is a valid point' and 'Internet also made trade'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'who can track his order', where the connection is slightly tangled. Paragraphing is used, but because the text stops abruptly, logical progression is not fully sustained throughout an entire essay. This corresponds to a Band 5.0 level of coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with noticeable spelling and word choice errors that detract from the writing. Examples include the misspelling of 'globilisation' as 'globolisation', 'amoung' instead of 'among', and 'convinient' instead of 'convenient'. The student also uses basic phrases like 'good products' and 'send a confirmation message'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey simple ideas about the internet and shopping, the frequent errors and lack of sophisticated phrasing restrict the score. This matches the criteria for Band 5.0, where vocabulary is limited and noticeable errors occur.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'In the past when internet was not popular amoung people they used to go airline offices...' However, punctuation is frequently missing, particularly comma splices and run-on structures like 'these websits automatically checks the order and send a confirmation message to the person's given phone number who can track his order.' Subject-verb agreement errors are also present, such as 'internet increased air travel' and 'websits automatically checks'. Frequent grammatical errors and faulty complex structures place this response firmly at Band 5.0.
