Student answer (Band 6.0)

In past few years, through the internet, air travel, trade and popular culture, globalisation has rapidly increased. Many individual believe that the raised interaction between countries through globalisation is a positive development. I believe it to be true as globalisation has helped nations in exchanging cultures and values, and also helped boosting economies of other countries too.

One of the main advantage of globalisation is that the preserved traditions and cultures of every country is now open to everybody around the world. The facinating cultures of socities are now shared amoung other countries to create a sense of oneness and improve relations. The languages, arts, dances, food, or any other things are now shared. Many enjoys other country's food, For instance the national dish of UK is butter chiken, it would not be the national dish, if globalisation wouldn't have happened.

There are many economical advantages of globalisation too. Countries that have weaker economy can boost their economy with foreign investments. It will generate jobs for locals and increase per capita income of the country. The increase in import and export of the country will help to receive the goods that can not be developed within the country and country can export the goods that has higher demand in other countries, while gaining profit from it. The scarcity of goods in the nation can be reduced with the help of trade.

In conclusion, globalisation through internet, air travel, trade and culture has quickly rose in past few years. It is very benificial for every other country as it helps in exchanging cultures and boost economy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the view that increased interaction through globalisation is positive and providing a clear personal opinion. The student presents relevant main ideas, such as cultural exchange and economic benefits, and supports them with explanations and examples, such as the mention of food and UK culture. However, some ideas lack deeper extension, and there is a tendency to overgeneralise slightly in the conclusion. The position is maintained throughout, satisfying the requirements for a Band 6.5 or solid Band 6, leaning toward Band 6.0 due to some under-development in the supporting body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing distinct themes (culture and economy), and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, such as "One of the main advantage" and "There are many economical advantages," though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but occasional referencing errors or abrupt sentence transitions prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Overall, the logical progression is evident, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as "globalisation," "investments," "per capita income," and "scarcity." However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including "facinating" instead of fascinating, "amoung" instead of among, "Many enjoys" instead of Many enjoy, "chiken" instead of chicken, and "benificial" instead of beneficial. These errors do not impede communication, but they occur with enough frequency to restrict the lexical score to a Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures and relative clauses. There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, such as "In past few years" (missing article), "Many individual believe" (singular/plural mismatch), "One of the main advantage" (singular noun after one of the), and "if globalisation wouldn't have happened" (incorrect conditional structure). Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout, and they rarely impede communication, placing the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
