Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, globalisation has been quickly surged by different means including internet, air-travel, trade and popular-culture. Numerous individuals are of the view that increased interaction between different nations through globalisation is a positive thing.
I agree with this opinion that globalisation increases communication between nations and positive results are generated but i believe that it also imposes countries at different types of risks like security risk.
On the one hand, the internet had made the world globalised and other factors are also contributing in it namely, air-travel, trade and popular-culture. Smartphone is an example of it. People can now see everything on their smartphone including world news, social events, fashion trends etc. For instance, during covid people became aware of its syptoms and precautions through social media.
On the other hand, I believe that everything in this world have both positive and negative side. If globalisation is offering numerous benfits then there are its drawbacks also. when individuals are travelling or sharing information across the world then there are chances of false news being shared which can be a sort of tension among the people. Furthermore, people follow the latest fashion trends and begins to forget their culture fashion. moreover, if a bad person gets enter in a peaceful state or country then it puts the country at security risks. for instance, in pakistan people have started to adopt western culture due to which their own culture is now at risk of being burried.
In conclusion, while globalisation is offering multiple benefits to the world but its drawbacks can not be also ignored.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing the view of increased globalisation and providing the writer's own opinion, which agrees with the benefits while also noting risks such as security concerns and cultural erosion. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and under-developed, particularly in the body paragraphs where examples like smartphones and cultural changes in Pakistan are mentioned briefly without deep exploration. While the task is adequately addressed, extending the supporting arguments with more comprehensive explanations would elevate the score. This performance aligns best with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing sides, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised sufficiently to separate main ideas. However, the progression is sometimes hindered by mechanical or basic cohesive devices, such as the repetitive use of 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' in close succession, alongside somewhat formulaic transitions like 'moreover' and 'in conclusion'. Referencing and logical transitions between sentences could be smoother to achieve a higher band. The overall structure is sound enough to merit a Band 6 score.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating topic-related terms such as 'globalisation', 'popular-culture', 'social media', and 'security risks'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'globalisation has been quickly surged' instead of 'surged rapidly', and spelling or typographical errors like 'syptoms' instead of 'symptoms', 'benfits' instead of 'benefits', 'begins' instead of 'begin', and 'burried' instead of 'buried'. Less common items are attempted with mixed success. These lexical limitations place the response comfortably within the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses with 'while', 'when', and relative pronouns. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation slips throughout the response. Examples include lowercase 'i' for the pronoun, missing articles ('the internet had made the world globalised', 'gets enter in a peaceful state'), and prepositional issues ('imposes countries at different types of risks'). Despite these errors, the meaning remains generally clear and communication is rarely impeded. This mix of error frequency and structural variety corresponds well to Band 6 standards.
