Student answer (Band 5.5)

Globalisation has become an important part of modern life becasue the internet, international travel, trade and popular culture have made countries more connected than ever before. Many individuals think that having interaction is beneficial for nations. I agree with this view because globalisation can economic opportunities and encourage cultural understanding, although it also have some negative effects.

One major benefit of globalisation is that it creates opportunities for international trade with helps to make strong economic of the country. Companies can sell their products in foreign markets , while consumers can access a wide range of goods and services. Globalisation also allow people to study and work in other countries, which can improve their academic background and skills. Furthermore, it helps to explore the culture and traditions of different countries. It also helps to change the lifestyle of people. People will become more diplomatic in terms of work and making relation with other nations people. For example, a companies can make more profit due to globalisation other companies couldnot get more margin by selling products inside the country.

However, globalisation can have some drawbacks. People will feel uncomfortable to adapt the new lifestyle and cultures. It may fel difficult to understand the new language and traditions of other countries. Some developing countries may fell difficult to compete with international companies.

In my opinion, despite these disadvantages, globalisation is the most essential part for every nation for thier internal and economical growth. It enchance the business and helps to explore the new market. The government should take steps to intreaction with foreign nations and at the same time government should protect the cultures and traditions.

In conclusion, globalisation has brought nations closer through trade, travel and communication. Although it can create some challenges, I believe that greater international interaction is a positive development for the nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the benefits and drawbacks of globalisation and presenting a clear position in the introduction and conclusion. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes repetitive. For instance, the discussion of economic advantages in the second paragraph relies on general statements like 'creates opportunities for international trade with helps to make strong economic of the country' without fully extending or substantiating the points with specific, concrete examples. Similarly, the points regarding lifestyle changes and cultural adaptation are touched upon briefly but remain under-developed. To reach a higher level, the ideas need to be more fully explored, explained, and supported with detailed reasoning or relevant examples throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, featuring a distinct introduction, body paragraphs addressing advantages and disadvantages, a personal view, and a conclusion. However, the cohesion between and within sentences is sometimes mechanical or faulty. Cohesive devices are used, but they are occasionally repetitive or overused, such as starting multiple sentences with 'It also helps' or 'Furthermore'. Referencing is not always clear, leading to some disruption in the logical flow. For example, the transition between discussing cultural exploration and business profit in the second paragraph feels abrupt. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that the progression of ideas from one sentence to the next is smoother and more transparent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, providing a sufficient range to communicate the basic arguments about globalisation. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'diplomatic', 'international', and 'developing countries', but these attempts are often accompanied by noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word form. For instance, phrases like 'make strong economic of the country', 'a companies can make more profit', and spelling errors such as 'becasue', 'thier', and 'enchance' appear frequently. These lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors sometimes cause confusion for the reader. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their range of vocabulary, improve precision in word choice and collocations, and pay closer attention to word forms and spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writing demonstrates a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences alongside a few attempts at complex forms. These complex attempts are frequently faulty, containing noticeable errors in verb forms, articles, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions within grammatical patterns. Examples of these errors include 'because the internet... have made', 'trade with helps', 'Globalisation also allow', 'People will feel uncomfortable to adapt the new lifestyle', and 'government should take steps to intreaction'. These frequent errors require the reader to occasionally decode the intended meaning. To progress, the writer should practice forming complex sentences with greater control, ensure correct subject-verb agreement, and work on eliminating basic grammatical and punctuation errors.
