Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the current Era, the world has turned into a global village, each and every part of the world has connected itself into an interwoven web. This interrelation is due to the internet, air travelling, exchange of trade and popular culture which has resulted in globalization. Many individuals veiws this connectiviy as a good thing. I agree with this statement and my stance with be clarified in the ensuing paragraphs.

First of all, the world no longer feels isolated, each and every continent and every country on it is interconnect to the rest of the world. This not only helps us become more aware of the overall international situations but also helps in the stability of nations. For example, when war broke out in the palestenian region, every single humanitiarian organization started providing their facilities to the war torn areas. This was only possible because of the inter-connectivity arising from internet and the globalisation already established.

Secondly, this globalisation is effectively helping the world trade. Throughout the world different countries are trading wth other countries with various goods that are in surplus and necessary to run various sectors. For instance, Apple source the raw material for it's Iphone from other countries like china and manufacture it in India. Similarly, shien and other apperal stores source their raw material and manufacture internationally. Thus, making themselves an international producers.

On the other hand, many people are not in favour of such interconnectiviy of the whole world. They believe that this relationship has far surpassed global diplomacy and now it is threatning the autonomy the countries. Thus, this intermingling and interdependancy should be halted and only a certain degree of integration of these countries should be allowed.

In conclusion, the world has become increasingly interlinked and this is a good developement on many platforms because it allows people to become aware of their surroundings and enabled the citizens and organizations to help people from other countries when they are need. Moreover, it has improved the functioning of various industries and helped them thrive even in unfavourable conditions. Thus, such interconnectivity should be enhanced so people from every part of the world is aware of the conditions of another continent and business can find oppurtunity outside their home countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the benefits of globalisation and acknowledging the opposing view regarding national autonomy, while also clearly stating the writer's opinion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the paragraph on international trade provides concrete examples involving companies like Apple and Shein, which helps extend the idea. In contrast, the point about humanitarian support during conflicts, such as the mention of the Palestinian region, remains somewhat under-developed and lacks broader contextual elaboration. Your position is generally clear throughout the essay, even though certain arguments could be pushed further with deeper analysis to meet higher descriptor requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introductory stance, body paragraphs tackling distinct aspects, and a summarizing conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas logically. However, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical or faulty. Transition markers like 'First of all,' and 'Secondly,' are utilized to structure the response, but referencing and logical flow occasionally stumble, such as in the opening paragraph where the transition to the thesis statement feels abrupt. Pronoun referencing and inter-sentence links could be managed with greater flexibility and subtlety to ensure a smoother, more natural progression of thoughts from one sentence to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the main arguments about globalisation and international trade. You attempt to use less common items such as 'interwoven web', 'humanitarian organization', and 'autonomy', which shows ambition. Nevertheless, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, including 'veiws' instead of views, 'connectiviy' instead of connectivity, 'air travelling' instead of air travel, 'palestenian' instead of Palestinian, 'wth' instead of with, and 'apperal' instead of apparel. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they reflect the limitations characteristic of this level, occasionally drawing attention away from the quality of the ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating structures such as conditional and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, but they rarely impede communication. Examples of grammatical slips include subject-verb agreement issues ('each and every continent and every country on it is interconnect' instead of interconnected), capitalization errors ('Era', 'Iphone', 'china'), and prepositional inaccuracies ('stance with be clarified' instead of stance will be clarified). Punctuation and article usage also exhibit minor inconsistencies. To progress further, aim for a higher proportion of error-free complex sentences and tighten your control over punctuation and verb forms.
