Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the benefits of globalisation and providing a personal opinion, which places it in the mid-range of achievement. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the discussion on technology sharing using 'country A' and 'country B' is somewhat simplistic and lacks full extension. While a position is presented, the reasoning is repetitive and lacks depth, relying on general statements like 'globalisation is good for the country' rather than fully exploring nuanced arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt to structure the response into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised adequately to separate distinct ideas, such as technological distribution and financial growth. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. The referencing and linking between sentences occasionally feel abrupt, as seen in the transition 'The one major benefit globalisation provide...' and the over-reliance on simple connectors like 'furthermore' and 'additionally'.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary suitable for addressing the topic, including terms like 'globalisation', 'financial growth', and 'economy'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form—such as 'culure' instead of 'culture', 'increased' instead of 'increase', and 'single handlely' instead of 'single-handedly'—that occasionally cause difficulty and detract from the overall clarity of the communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing exhibits a limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on basic sentence forms alongside attempts at complex sentences that are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Globalisation show', 'globalisation is not only produce'), incorrect prepositions, and article omissions ('with the help of Internet'). These persistent errors can cause some difficulty and hesitation for the reader.
