Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, and importantly, it falls short of the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, containing only 240 words. While the writer attempts to discuss both the benefits and drawbacks of globalisation and briefly mentions a personal opinion, the position is not always clear throughout the text. Ideas are limited and under-developed, relying on repetitive assertions rather than well-reasoned arguments. For instance, the discussion on how the internet helps communication or how cheap foreign goods harm local businesses is very brief and lacks specific expansion or supporting examples. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to fully develop all parts of the task with extended explanations and meet the required length.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text shows some organisation with basic paragraphing, but there is no clear overall progression from beginning to end. Transitions between sentences and paragraphs often feel abrupt and mechanical. For example, sentences like 'Secondly, there are also disadvantages.' and 'Moreover, everyone has different persepective of thinking.' are disconnected from the flow of ideas. Cohesive devices are used rather inadequately or inaccurately, and referencing is sometimes unclear, such as when pronouns lack distinct antecedents. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical links. Improving this area requires clearer transitional phrases, logical sequencing of ideas, and ensuring that every sentence contributes directly to the central theme of the paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'globalisation', 'covinenient', and 'persepective', but noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and spelling (for example, 'covinenient', 'throughtout', 'persepective', 'mangaement', 'Generae') cause some difficulty for the reader. Collocations are occasionally awkward, such as 'trading has strong grip'. To improve, the student should expand their range of vocabulary, pay closer attention to word formation and spelling, and use more precise terms naturally in context instead of relying on basic or repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple sentences or attempts at complex structures that are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors involving verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions. Examples include 'In last few years', 'some people argues', 'internet plays', 'people can interacts', 'Languages disapperas', and 'poor mangaement can lead several problems'. These errors occur throughout the text and frequently cause difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer must demonstrate better control over basic grammatical patterns, improve sentence variety, and reduce the frequency of structural errors.
