Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially, failing to meet the minimum length requirement of 250 words by stopping short at 200 words. While you present a clear position that globalisation and increased international interaction are beneficial, your ideas remain limited and under-developed. You touch on relevant points such as the internet, social media, cultural exchange, and international trade, but these concepts are expressed superficially with minimal supporting evidence or examples. For instance, mentioning that businesses can sell products abroad or that small businesses can advertise lacks the extension and depth expected for a fully developed academic discussion. To move to a higher level, you must expand your supporting arguments with fully articulated explanations and real-world examples while ensuring you write the required word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation in the essay, with a distinct introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or repetitive. For example, starting multiple sentences and clauses with 'you can' creates a mechanical and repetitive structure that impedes the flow of reading. Furthermore, paragraphing is not utilised effectively; some paragraphs are extremely brief or merge distinct ideas together, such as abruptly shifting from fashion to international trade. Referencing is also occasionally unclear. To improve your score in coherence and cohesion, you need to use a wider and more accurate variety of cohesive links, ensure smooth transitions between paragraphs, and organise your main body points logically to build a clear, progressive argument.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey basic points about globalisation, the internet, and trade. However, there are noticeable lexical errors in word choice, word form, and spelling that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. For example, you wrote 'rapidly climb' instead of 'rapidly climbed' or 'has rapidly climbed', 'icrease' instead of 'increase', 'creatse' instead of 'creates', 'opportunites' instead of 'opportunities', and 'bussiness' instead of 'business'. You also rely on repetitive everyday vocabulary like 'different ways' and 'things'. To achieve a higher score, you should incorporate less common lexical items with greater precision, pay closer attention to spelling and word forms, and demonstrate control over collocations related to economic and social topics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic clauses. When you attempt more complex forms, they are frequently faulty. For instance, the opening sentence contains a tense and preposition error ('In past few years, globalisation has rapidly climb'), and other sentences struggle with subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'One of the major advantage' instead of 'advantages'. Frequent errors in verb forms, capitalization (such as 'facebook' and 'Instagram'), and punctuation—such as missing spaces after periods and incomplete sentence boundaries—cause noticeable difficulty for the reader. To improve, you should practice using a wider mix of error-free complex sentence structures, ensuring proper tense consistency and accurate grammatical agreements throughout your writing.
