Student answer (Band 6.0)

Globalization has become an important part of modern life, because of the rapidly development of internet, air travel and popular culture. While some people argue that greater interaction between nations is beneficial, while other think that it can create certain problems. In my opinion, the advantages of globalization weighs more than the disadvantages.

One major benefit of globalization is that it promotes economic growth and generate employment opportunities for skilled workers. For example, Many foreign companies are building their branches or offices in india which will increase job opportunity for skilled and educated peoples. Furthermore, it also gave buyers a wider range of products at competitive prices. Another important advantage is the exchange of knowledge and culture. Through the internet and international education, people can easily learn about different societies, languages and traditions. Students can study at foreign universities and gain knowledge that may not be available in their home countries. Similarly, international cultural events, films and food can help people develop greater understanding and respect for other cultures.

However, globalisation can also have a negative impact in many conturies as local businessmen will find difficulty in competiting with those who has a good grasp in that particular business. In addition, the widespread culture of foreign tradition will have a negative impact on our traditional tradition.

In conclusion, although globalization can create economic, cultural as well as enviromental challanges, i believe that it will have a major impact in the growth of a nation or in the development of a nation. So in my opinion, the advantages of globalization were more than the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the view and state a clear position: “the advantages of globalization weighs more than the disadvantages.” Relevant benefits include employment, consumer choice, and cultural exchange, with examples such as foreign companies opening offices in India and students studying abroad. This covers the task well, but the support is uneven. The economic and cultural benefits receive explanation, whereas the disadvantages are asserted briefly: local businesses may struggle to compete, and foreign traditions may affect local culture. The conclusion also introduces environmental challenges without explaining them. To strengthen the response, develop the drawbacks with a specific example and make the final summary reflect the arguments actually discussed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on drawbacks, and a conclusion. The progression from economic advantages to cultural exchange is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “Another important advantage,” and “However” help show relationships between ideas. This is a sound foundation, though some linking is mechanical and the contrast in the introduction is awkwardly repeated (“While …, while …”). The drawbacks paragraph is much shorter and less developed than the benefits paragraph, so the discussion feels unbalanced. Improve progression by grouping each main point with its explanation and example, and use clearer references when moving between claims.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “economic growth,” “employment opportunities,” “competitive prices,” and “exchange of knowledge and culture.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and there are attempts at more specific language. However, inaccurate word forms, spelling, and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make the phrasing less natural: “rapidly development,” “job opportunity,” “traditional tradition,” and “a good grasp in that particular business.” There are also spelling errors such as “conturies,” “competiting,” and “challanges.” Build accuracy by checking word forms and common combinations, and avoid repeating a word when a more precise expression is available. This would make the vocabulary more flexible and clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a concession in the opening and longer explanations using “because,” “which,” and “although.” Meaning is generally understandable, but errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction recur. For example, “the advantages … weighs” should use a plural verb, while “other think” needs a plural subject and matching verb. The opening also contains two “while” clauses without a clear structure, and “it also gave buyers” shifts tense unnecessarily. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including the missing space after “culture.” Practise checking subject–verb agreement and keeping tense consistent, while building complex sentences that remain controlled.
