Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the modern era, through the help of internet, air travel, trade and popular culture, globalization has rapidly increased. It is often argued that the increased interaction between nations through globalization is a positive thing. I completely agree with this statement because it helps to foster cooperation between many nations and also create many economic opportunities through international trade.

Through the advancements in the internet, air travel, trade and popular culture, globalization has been increased rapidly. The globalization is beneficial as it tends to create more economic opportunities for the nation. For instance, the international trade has enable many business houses to promote their products internationally as well. Subsequently, it results in generating more revenues in the business and ultimately paying more taxes to nation. With the help of internet and air travel ,many people are able to travel here and there in a short period of time and communicate with the foreign business partners in a convienient way. Another major advantage is that globalization also enable different multi-national companies to operate their businesses in host country. This results in the overall development of the host country and more employment opportunities for the people. The popular culture also encourages people to visit and experience the culture physically, which assist in developing more tourism in the nation.

I believe that globalization is positive thing as it foster the mutual cooperation and interaction between numerous countries. Furthermore, it generates more employment opportunities for the people and overall development of the nation.

To sum up, globalization helps nation to develop more steadily and creates economic opportunities for individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that globalisation is positive, and you give relevant reasons, including international trade, employment and tourism. The response addresses the task and includes examples, such as businesses promoting products internationally and multinational companies operating in host countries. However, the discussion is weighted toward economic benefits; the claim that globalisation fosters cooperation is repeated but not explained with a specific example. Some points, such as popular culture increasing tourism, are asserted rather than developed. To strengthen the response, explain how one example demonstrates cooperation between nations and extend each main reason with a clear cause-and-effect explanation. The length requirement is met; eight words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to supporting points and a conclusion, and the ideas are generally understandable. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Subsequently,” and “Furthermore” help show relationships between points. However, the second paragraph repeats the introduction’s list of globalisation’s causes before developing the benefits, and the final two paragraphs repeat similar claims about cooperation and economic development. This makes progression feel somewhat mechanical rather than cumulative. Group the economic and employment benefits into a focused body paragraph, then develop cooperation or cultural exchange separately. Use references such as “these developments” to connect ideas without restating the same claims.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “international trade,” “multinational companies,” “host country,” and “employment opportunities,” which allows you to discuss the subject clearly. There is also some attempt at more formal phrasing, such as “overall development.” However, several expressions are repetitive or imprecise, including repeated use of “positive thing,” “more,” and “nation.” Some collocations and word forms are awkward, for example “promote their products internationally as well” and “developing more tourism.” Spelling errors in “convienient” and “multi-national” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more precise alternatives and check spelling; varying terms for countries, businesses and benefits would make the argument more fluent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including cause-and-effect structures such as “This results in the overall development of the host country” and a relative clause in “which assist in developing more tourism.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur across the response. Examples include “globalization has been increased rapidly,” where the passive construction is not appropriate, and “international trade has enable,” which has an incorrect verb form. There are also agreement and article errors in “globalization also enable” and “globalization is positive thing.” Review subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms, and proofread punctuation around commas. More accurate control of these patterns would make your varied sentences clearer.
