Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays globalisation has increased connections between countries through trade, travel and technology. Many people believe that this is a good development. I believe that because of this development we can get great oppurtunities. This essay will discuss both positive and negative impacts.

On the one hand, one major advantage of this development is thatit creates more business oppurtunities. This will help to sell produtcs globally. For example, we can use online platforms to sell our products. Likewise,we could make advertisement that can attract people to buy items. As a result, people can easily buy products through online apps. Another advantage can be travelling. People are now able to travel by air. For instance, people from different nations can easily intereact with people or can have easy acess to go different countries. As a result, people can get employement oppurtunities and can learn different culture conveniently.

On the other hand, globalisation can also have some negative effects. The increasing globalisation can be problemetic for thge climate change. For example, increasing trades such as the use of plastic items can create pollution in the enviroment. Another example is that people might use internet to trade unnnecessary products such items that could pollute the environment. Furthermore, culture from different nations can be in danger if people treat this as a business.

In conclusion, although globalisation can create challenges for local businesses, I believe that its benefits are greater because it promotes international trade and cultural understanding. Also it can be more convenient for people because they can promote their business easily through technology.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear overall view: globalisation offers “great opportunities,” and its benefits outweigh its challenges. Relevant points include online selling, travel and employment, alongside environmental and cultural concerns. However, some ideas are only briefly explained or not fully connected to the question. For example, the point about plastic and trade identifies a possible environmental cost but does not explain how global interaction causes it or how significant it is. The cultural concern—that cultures may be “in danger” if treated as a business—is also unclear and unsupported. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation or specific example, and make your opinion more explicit in the body as well as the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion. Within paragraphs, however, progression is sometimes mechanical: several sentences begin with “For example,” “Likewise,” or “As a result,” without always showing a precise relationship between the ideas. The link between travel and employment opportunities, for instance, needs further explanation. Some references are also unclear, as in “treat this as a business,” where “this” does not identify the cultural practice or interaction meant. Use linking phrases selectively and make each sentence build clearly on the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “globalisation,” “international trade,” “online platforms,” and “cultural understanding.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors reduce precision. Examples include “make advertisement,” “easy acess,” “increasing trades,” and “problemetic”; these make parts of the argument less natural or clear. Repetition of general terms such as “people,” “products,” and “opportunities” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn accurate word partnerships and check spelling, while choosing more precise terms for the effects you describe. This would help you express relevant ideas more clearly and naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “although globalisation can create challenges…” and a conditional structure in “if people treat this as a business.” Most sentences communicate their basic meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “people … can have easy access to go different countries” has an incorrect construction, and “culture from different nations can be in danger” needs more accurate article and number choices. There are also punctuation and spacing slips, such as “Likewise,we” and “Also it” at the start of a sentence. Practise accurate sentence patterns for expressing ability, cause and consequence, and review articles and punctuation when proofreading.
