Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, globalisation has increase rapidly because of internet access, world trade, and by travel. Some people believe that increase interaction is a good thing between countries through globalisation. I strongly agree with this view, because they have several benefits.

On the one hand, globalisation has a lot of advantages peolple can intreact with each other through internet. People can get any information through internet access. For instance, students learn english cources from other country teachers by online. Moreover, students can gain study from other universaties through internet. They can take lectures online. Additionally, globalisation promotes bussiness around the world. People can manage all things without travel and also they can save time.

On the other hand, globalisation has some disadvantages. One main disadvantage is the lose of culture because people is strongly influenced by foreign films, brands, and foreign culture. For example, people prefer foreign brands and foreign and food instead of supporting local small bussiness. Small companies lose their bussiness because of foreign trends. Due to some reason, globalisation promotes brands, culture, social interaction, and global trends. Therefore, local bussiness may lose their customers and face financial problems. Furthermore, international travel and transportation of the local goods create pollutions and harm the environment.

From my perspective, globalisation has more advantages than disadvantages. Because globalisation promote culture, international travel, educational benefits, and global interaction around the world. While they have some pros and cons. They cause the lose of local culture and problem of small bussiness.

In conclusion, globalisation has made the world more connected and created many opportunities in education, business and communication. Although it can cause problems for local cultures and businesses, I believe that it is a positive development overall.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear: you strongly agree that globalisation is beneficial, and the conclusion restates that it is positive overall. You address both benefits and drawbacks, with relevant examples such as online learning, international business, pressure on local companies, and environmental harm. This covers the task well, but the discussion is unevenly developed. The educational benefits are illustrated, while the business point that people can “manage all things without travel” is broad and not fully explained. The disadvantages are also listed more than analysed, and the sentence about globalisation promoting brands and culture does not clearly explain the cause-and-effect relationship. Develop each main point with a clearer explanation and a specific example to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, a statement of your view, and a conclusion. This makes the overall direction easy to follow. You also use signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion.” However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Due to some reason” does not specify the reason, and “Because globalisation promote…” is a sentence fragment rather than a complete explanation. The final opinion paragraph repeats points already made without adding a clear synthesis. Improve progression by linking each example directly to the claim it supports, and use pronouns and transitions only when their references are clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “interaction,” “international travel,” “local culture,” and “environment.” These choices allow you to communicate the main ideas, but the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, particularly “business,” “internet,” and “globalisation.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as “peolple,” “intreact,” “cources,” “universaties,” and “pollutions.” Some combinations are unnatural, including “gain study” and “promotes business around the world.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they reduce precision. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for education, commerce, and cultural influence, and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast clause beginning “Although it can cause problems…” and a sentence using “because.” The main ideas are generally understandable, but some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “globalisation has increase” should use a past participle, while “people is strongly influenced” has a subject–verb agreement problem. “Because globalisation promote…” is an incomplete sentence, and “While they have some pros and cons” is also a fragment. These issues sometimes make relationships between ideas less clear. Practise forming complete sentences with dependent clauses, and check that each subject agrees with its verb and each sentence has a main clause.
