Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response makes a limited attempt to discuss globalisation, but it does not clearly explain whether increased interaction between nations is a good thing or present a consistent opinion. Most of the discussion shifts to a specific internet and airport communication problem, such as “my mother” being unable to contact the writer at the airport, rather than examining the broader effects of globalisation. There is a brief positive point about connecting with family and friends and accessing movies and music, but these ideas are not explained or supported with clear examples. The conclusion says the issue should not be ignored, yet does not directly answer the question. To strengthen the response, state a clear view and develop relevant benefits and drawbacks of global interaction with specific explanations and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The response has an identifiable beginning, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and it uses signposts such as “To begin with,” “Moreover” and “In conclusion.” These features give it some basic organisation. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several ideas are combined in long, unclear sentences, and the focus moves between airport communication, study plans, popular culture and government support without showing how each point connects to the question. For example, the airport example is not clearly linked to the later claim about popular culture. Some linking phrases are used mechanically rather than to express a precise relationship. Organise each paragraph around one relevant main idea, then explain it in a clear sequence and use referencing and connectors to make the links explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The writer attempts vocabulary related to the topic, including “globalisation,” “popular culture,” “air travel,” “technology” and “awareness.” This shows some ability to use relevant terms, and phrases such as “positive effects” and “negative effects” communicate a basic contrast. However, word choice, spelling and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which makes parts of the message hard to understand. Examples include “air travel the airport entrance bording,” “the internet problem” and “government institute networking issues solving.” Several words appear to be intended but are misspelled, such as “cheq,” “dircet” and “listien.” Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling; choose precise expressions rather than assembling several loosely connected words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

There are attempts to form longer sentences and express relationships between ideas, including “It mainly depends on how people use it” and the conditional idea beginning “If people and airports…”. These show some range beyond isolated simple statements. However, sentence structures are frequently incomplete or difficult to interpret, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries interfere with meaning. For example, “The main reasons is” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “globalisation has rapidly increases” uses an incorrect verb form. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and several clauses run together without effective punctuation. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses using correct verb forms and clear punctuation.
