Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, through the internet, air travel, trade and popular culture, globalisation has rapidly increased. This increased interaction between nations has both advantages and disadvantages. Globalisation leads to advantages such as inrased options in products. For example if country cannot produce a specific good, it can import that product from another country and can export a product that is not produced in another country. Exports can lead to an increase in foreign exchange which can improve a country's balance of trade deficit.
However, this can create interdependence between nations which can cause problems. For example, if Country A imports rice from Country B and the poltical situation between those two countries is in a dispute, this can create shortage of an essential good and this can be difficult to solve in short periods of time.
Another advantage of globalisation is that people can move to different nations for work or education if there are not opportunities in their home country. However, this can leave the home country at a disadvantage if its workforce is less or uneducated.
Globalisation also promotes culture and this can have a positive impact on a nation's image. Interaction between nations can help foster better relations. Trade groups can be formed which can lead to easier terms of trade such as low tariffs and quotas.
In conclusion, globalisation has its pros and cons. If the cons are managed effectively, globalisation can be a good source of interaction between countries. To ensure peace in globalisation, it is very important that the political and economic situation between nations and within the nations remains healthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both benefits and drawbacks of increased international interaction, including trade, migration, cultural exchange, and dependence on imports. Your conclusion gives a qualified view: globalisation can be beneficial if its disadvantages are managed. However, the position is not fully clear or consistently developed: the opening says there are advantages and disadvantages, while the conclusion’s condition is not explained in detail. Several points remain brief, such as the claim that migration can leave a home country with a smaller or less educated workforce. Develop fewer ideas with specific explanation or examples, and make your own judgement explicit throughout. The response meets the required length; 16 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces the issue, presents benefits and drawbacks in separate sections, and ends with a conclusion. Transitions such as “However,” “Another advantage,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main direction. Some connections are less smooth or precise, though. The paragraph about migration moves from opportunities for individuals to disadvantages for the home country without fully explaining that link, and the final paragraph introduces peace and domestic political and economic conditions rather abruptly. The repeated pattern of naming an advantage and then adding “However” can also feel mechanical. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “interdependence,” “foreign exchange,” “balance of trade deficit,” “tariffs,” and “quotas.” This gives you enough range to discuss trade and international relations, although some choices are imprecise or awkward, and spelling errors are noticeable. For example, “inrased options in products” is unclear, while “a dispute” is not a natural way to describe strained political relations. “An increase in foreign exchange” also does not express the intended economic effect precisely. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; more precise phrasing will make your ideas easier to understand without needing unnecessarily complex vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including conditional structures such as “if Country A imports rice from Country B” and a relative clause in “a product that is not produced.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. In “if country cannot produce,” the singular count noun needs an article; “can leave the home country at a disadvantage if its workforce is less or uneducated” has an unclear comparison and an incomplete parallel structure. The long sentence about imports and political disputes would be clearer if divided or punctuated more carefully. Practise accurate articles, comparisons, and parallel phrasing, while continuing to use subordinate clauses to show cause and contrast.
