Student answer (Band 5.5)

Recently, globalisation has been risen dramatically. The internet, air travel, trade and popular culture playes a vital role for globalisation. Some people believe that it is a good thing because people are now interacting internationally. I largely agree with this view. In this essay, I will discuss about the positive effect of globalisation and point out why it is a good thing in my opinion.

Nowadays, globalisation has become convenient to us. We have the access to use internet everywhere. We can gain knowledge about other countries culture, business and language. Globalisation has many advantages. For instance, globalisation helps us to grow our networking sectors. It helps us to make new friends and to understand other cultures. It motivates us to visit other countries for travelling. Sometimes, it also inspire us to learn and explore new languages. People may go to other countries for higher education as well. Many people celebrate other cultures now. For example, 21st february is the mother language day in Bangladesh but the impact of globalisation has made this day to celebrate all over the world.

Other than that, globalisation has also a great impact on politics and businesses. Connecting with other countries, gives the government the opportunity for collaboration. Other business grows as well. For example, this includes import-export businesses. Globalisation helps them to get new clients. Therefore, it affects the countrys' GDP. Politicians may visit other countries to discuss about their countries well-being.

In conclusion, in my point of view, there are many advantages of globalisation. It helps both individually and nationally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You state a clear position—“I largely agree”—and give relevant reasons, including cultural exchange, education, business and political cooperation. The example of Bangladesh’s Mother Language Day also helps illustrate how cultural interaction can spread internationally. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits are listed more often than explained, and some claims, such as globalisation helping “our networking sectors,” are unclear. The task asks you to discuss the view as well as give your opinion, but you do not consider any possible disadvantages or explain why the benefits outweigh them. Develop fewer points with specific explanations or examples, and make the reasoning behind your overall agreement more explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Ideas are generally grouped by topic, with cultural and personal benefits in one paragraph and political and business effects in the next. Linking phrases such as “For instance,” “Other than that” and “Therefore” help guide the reader, although some transitions feel mechanical or do not show the precise relationship between ideas. The sequence within the first body paragraph moves quickly from networking to travel, languages and education, so the central point becomes less focused. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the claim it supports; also ensure references such as “this day” have an unmistakable antecedent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “collaboration,” “import-export businesses,” “higher education” and “GDP.” These terms allow you to address cultural, economic and political aspects of the topic. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or vague, which limits precision: “grow our networking sectors” does not clearly express the intended benefit, and “convenient to us” is not a natural way to describe globalisation’s effects. There are also noticeable spelling and form errors, such as “playes” and “countrys’.” Aim for precise, natural combinations of words and check spelling and word forms carefully, especially in key topic phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses beginning “because,” “For example” and “Therefore,” and your meaning is usually understandable. However, errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward or unclear. Examples include the incorrect present perfect in “has been risen,” subject–verb agreement in “it also inspire,” and article or preposition patterns in “the access to use internet” and “discuss about.” The comma after “Connecting with other countries” also separates the introductory phrase from its main clause unnecessarily. Practise accurate verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and correctly connected structure.
