Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You state a clear opinion in favour of globalisation and discuss several relevant forms of interaction, including the internet, air travel, trade and popular culture. The examples about learning traditions and sharing goods help address the topic. However, most points are asserted rather than explained in depth: for instance, the claim that trade builds healthy relationships would be stronger with a specific example or explanation of how this happens. The conclusion also makes broad claims about equal opportunities and a better society without supporting them. The response is 248 words, so it does not meet the 250-word minimum; the nine words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop fewer points more fully and support your position with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing expressions such as “In addition,” “on the other hand,” and “Lastly” help signal the movement between points. However, the main body places several different arguments in one long paragraph, so the progression can feel like a list rather than a developed discussion. Some links are also unclear or mechanically added; “on the other hand” suggests a contrast, although the sentence about trade continues the positive case. The conclusion repeats the general position rather than drawing together the reasons. Use separate paragraphs for related ideas and choose linking phrases that accurately show the relationship between them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “globalisation,” “traditions,” “trade,” and “emotional connections,” and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the response less natural. Examples include “socializing” for interaction between nations, “sharing goods to all over the world,” and “made a better society.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “globalisaion,” “provieds,” and “opportuanities.” Aim for more precise topic vocabulary and check spelling carefully. For example, describe trade as enabling countries to exchange goods, and use “foster stronger relationships” rather than “build better relationship.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a sentence beginning “because it allows…” and a concluding sentence with a relative clause. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction occur frequently enough to make the writing less controlled. Examples include “Globalisation has been increased,” “all these things together contributes,” and “it provide us facilities.” In “Air travel … saves time and allow people,” the verbs do not agree with the singular subject. The opening fragment, “I also believe it is a good thing, knowing people from overseas…,” also needs a clearer grammatical connection between the ideas. Practise checking each sentence’s subject and verb, and use a wider range of accurate complex structures.
