Student answer (Band 5.5)

I completely agree, that in recent years, through the internet, air travel, trade and popular culture, globalisation has rapidly increased. I believe that the increased interaction between nations through globalisation is a good thing. This is beneficial in many ways like:

1. Sharing of ideas to fight with dieseases.

2. If an issue is resolved by a certain country, it will be beneficial for all other countries that would either won't find the solution or take long time to reach conclusion.

3. Rich countires can help the developing countries financially.

4. Powerful country can help a weak country to face another powerful country.

5. The access to information has become easy for researchers and with that they don't have to "re-invent a wheel"

6. News can reach to everyone in a quicker way.

i will like to give example for the aspect mentioned in point number 1.

The HIV was considered a disease of death warrant. Someone in some country discovered its treatment and same treatment is now saving lives from HIV all around the world. This has been possible due to globalisation. There is another aspect in same example. The HIV treatement is expensive. Not everyone or every country can afford this treatment for its people. So due to globalisation, the global fund is helping to make this treatment available for anyone anywhere in the world. Due to this factor, WHO is claiming that HIV virus will be supressed in world by 2030. They are claiming this because they believe that finance and awareness to cope with this disease will spread everywhere in world due to globalisation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you agree that globalisation is beneficial, and the HIV example gives relevant support by showing how treatment and funding can reach people internationally. However, the response addresses the task only partially because most of the other points are listed rather than explained; for example, the claims about powerful countries helping weaker ones and news spreading quickly are not developed with reasons or examples. The discussion also focuses almost entirely on benefits, with little consideration of why some people might hold a different view. The response is 239 words, so it falls 11 words short of the 250-word minimum; the 29 words copied from the task prompt are not counted. Develop fewer points in more depth and add a brief discussion of another perspective.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable sequence: you state your opinion, present several benefits, and then expand on the HIV example. This gives the reader a basic route through your ideas. However, the numbered list interrupts the flow of an essay, and the points do not build into clearly developed paragraphs. The transition, “i will like to give example,” signals a shift, but the example could be linked more explicitly to the earlier point about sharing medical knowledge. Some connections are also unclear, particularly between the treatment example and the claim about globalisation suppressing HIV by 2030. Organise the response into an introduction, focused body paragraphs and a conclusion, using linking phrases to show how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “globalisation,” “developing countries,” “researchers,” “treatment” and “awareness.” The phrase “re-invent a wheel” also conveys the idea of avoiding duplicated work, although a more formal expression would suit an academic essay better. At this level, the range is limited by repeated general terms such as “help,” “beneficial” and “country,” and several noticeable spelling or word-choice errors reduce accuracy, including “dieseases,” “countires” and “treatement.” Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “face another powerful country.” Build a wider set of precise topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations carefully; this will make your arguments clearer and more academic in tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You communicate your main position and use some longer sentence forms, particularly when explaining how HIV treatment and funding can benefit people internationally. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors recur in both simple and complex sentences. For example, “I completely agree, that” has incorrect punctuation, while “I will like to give example” is missing an article and uses an unsuitable verb form. In “countries that would either won't find the solution,” the modal construction is faulty, and “the global fund is helping to make this treatment available” shifts awkwardly between general and present-time meaning. Practise accurate article use, modal verbs and sentence boundaries, then vary sentence patterns while keeping each sentence controlled.
