Student answer (Band 6.0)

IN RECENT YEARS, GLOBALISATION HAS DEVELOPED THROUGH THE INTERNET. INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL OR POPULAR CULTURE.

MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE THAT THIS INCREASED INTERACTION BETWEEN COUNTRIES. I PARTLY AGREE WITH THIS VIEW BECAUSE GLOBALISATION CREATES ECONOMIC GROWTH AND CULTURAL EXCHANGE IT ALSO CREATES SOME CHALLENGES.

ONE MAJOR ADVANTAGE IS TO PROMOTES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. MANY COMPANIES SELL THEIR PRODUCTS IN FOREIGN MARKETS. AS A RESULT, CONSUMERS CAN ACCESS A WIDE RANGE OF COMPETITIVE PRICES. GLOBALISATION ALSO ALLOWS DEVELOPING COUNTRIES TO ATTRACT AND CREATE NEW OPPURTUNITIES. FOR EXAMPLE INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES MAY ESTABLISH OFFICES OR FACTORIES IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES, PROVIDE LOCAL WORKERS WITH THEIR JOBS AND EXPERIENCE.

ANOTHER BENIFIT IS THAT TO EXCHANGE THE KNOWLEGE AND CULTURE. THROUGH THE INTERNET PEOPLE CAN COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS FROM DIFFERENT BACKGROUND AND LEARN SOMETHING NEW SKILLS AND TRADITIONS THEIR LANGUAGES AND IMPROVE BETTER LIFESTYLE. STUDENTS CAN ALSO STUDY ABROAD GAIN MORE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES OR BOOST OUR CONFIDENCE THAT MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE I N THEIR HOME COUNTRIES. MOREOVER, THIS INTERACTION ENCOURAGES GREATER UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN NATIONS AND CULTURAL. AND REDUCES THE MISUDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE NATIONS

HOWEVER, GLOBALISATION HAVE ALSO SOME NEGATIVE EFFECTS. LOCAL BUSSINESSES MAY STRUGGLE WITH LARGE INTERNATIONAL COMPANIOES WITH TRADITIONAL CULTURAL. NEVERTHELESS, THESE ISSUES CAN BE REDUCED THROUGH GOVERNMENT POLICIES AND PRESERVE LOCAL TRADITIONS.

IN CONCLUSION, ALTHOUGH GLOBALISATION MAY CREATE CERTAIN AMOUNT OF ECONOMIC AND CULTURE CHALLENGES. I BELIEVE THAT THESE BENIFITS ARE GREATER. THE INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL CAN IMPROVE ECONOMIC AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND PROMOTES UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN INDIVIDUALS AND DIFFERENT COUNTRIES.OVERALL IT HAS BECOME AN ESSENTIAL PART OF MODERN LIFE.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the view and state a clear position: “I partly agree” because globalisation brings economic and cultural benefits but also challenges. Relevant support includes international companies creating jobs and students gaining educational opportunities. This meets the task well, though the discussion is uneven: the economic benefits are explained with a concrete example, while the disadvantages are only briefly mentioned through local businesses struggling, with little explanation of their effects. Some claims in the cultural paragraph, such as improving lifestyles and reducing misunderstandings, are also asserted rather than clearly supported. To strengthen the response further, develop the counterargument and explain how the proposed government policies would protect local businesses or traditions.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion that restates your view. Linking expressions such as “As a result,” “For example,” “Moreover,” and “However” help signal the stages of the argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and connections within sentences are not always clear. For instance, the cultural paragraph moves from communication to skills, traditions, language, lifestyle, and study abroad without clearly showing how these points relate. The sentence beginning “Nevertheless” also does not explain the link between the problem and the proposed solution. Use clearer topic sentences and organise each paragraph around one main idea, with explanations that build logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “economic development,” “foreign markets,” “educational opportunities,” and “cultural exchange.” These choices show an attempt to discuss globalisation beyond very basic terms. However, the range is limited by repeated general words and several inaccurate forms or collocations, such as “create new opportunities,” “exchange the knowledge and culture,” and “with their jobs and experience.” Spelling errors—including “oppurtunities,” “benifit,” “knowlege,” and “misuderstading”—are noticeable and sometimes make reading less smooth. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully. More precise terms for the effects on local firms and cultural identity would also help you express your ideas with greater clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including cause-and-effect structures such as “As a result” and a concession in the conclusion beginning “Although.” However, control is inconsistent, and several sentence patterns are incomplete or incorrectly formed. For example, “One major advantage is to promotes” has an incorrect verb form, while “Globalisation have also some negative effects” has faulty subject–verb agreement and word order. The cultural paragraph contains a long sequence without clear grammatical links, and the opening uses full stops where the ideas need to be connected. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Careful proofreading for agreement, verb forms, sentence boundaries, and punctuation would make your meaning easier to follow.
