Student answer (Band 6.0)
The widespread accessibility of the internet connecting the entire world, cross boarder transportation has facilitate the exchange of global trade and share of culture. A person from New Zealand can share experiences, interests and beliefs to the person from south Africa. It has greatly benefited not only the person but also the countries around the world.
The increasing interaction and exchange between the countries have faciliated many people to share or gain experiences and knowledges. Organizations or buesinesses have been able to increase their market due to global trade. Their profits have been increasing. Coca-cola, Apple, Google are some of the few examples of the companies that are benefiting from globalization. On the national level, countries have been exchanging technologies to boost the overall economy. When one nation needs help, the other have been helping. The recent flash-flood in Nepal could be the prime example. Different countries from all around the world extended helping hands during those tought period.
Despite all the benefits, globalization comes with serious threat to countries sovereignty, competition to domestic industry, trade imbalance, unwanted cultural infulence and so on. Many countries around the world have seen developed countries getting more benefits from the globalization than developing or under-developed countries. Due to the resources in terms of finances, strategies and technologies, developed country could exert authority in other nation.
Hence, there seems to have balance in terms of merits and demerits of globalization. But, recently, many countries are trying to be self-sufficient due to uncertain global threats like wars. So, concluding globalization is a good thing by only facing its good side cannot be a valid reasoning without seeing full picture.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response discusses both benefits and drawbacks of globalisation and gives a qualified view in the conclusion: it is not enough to judge it only by its positive effects. Relevant support includes companies expanding through global trade and international assistance after flooding in Nepal. However, the position could be clearer and more consistent: the opening says globalisation has “greatly benefited” people and countries, while the conclusion stresses that its merits and demerits are balanced without stating directly whether you consider increased interaction a good thing overall. Some points, such as threats to sovereignty and trade imbalance, are listed rather than explained. Develop one or two drawbacks with a specific consequence, and state your own judgement explicitly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement: it introduces globalisation, presents benefits, contrasts them with risks, and ends with a conclusion. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and transitions such as “Despite all the benefits” and “Hence” make the broad direction easy to follow. At times, however, connections between claims are abrupt or unclear. For example, the move from companies’ profits to national technology exchange would benefit from an explicit link, and the final paragraph introduces self-sufficiency without explaining how it supports the conclusion. Some references, including “the other” in “the other have been helping,” are also unclear. Use more precise links between examples and claims, and ensure each paragraph develops a central point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “global trade,” “domestic industry,” “trade imbalance,” “self-sufficient,” and “sovereignty.” These choices help address the subject, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms or collocations are noticeable, for example “cross boarder,” “faciliated,” “knowledges,” “tought,” and “infulence.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “share of culture” and “extended helping hands during those tough period.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. Replacing broad or awkward expressions with more precise wording will make your arguments clearer and show better control of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response includes both simple statements and attempts at more complex structures, such as “Despite all the benefits, globalisation comes with serious threat…” and the concluding sentence beginning “But, recently…”. Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction. For example, “cross boarder transportation has facilitate” needs a correctly formed verb, while “the other have been helping” has a subject–verb agreement problem. The opening sentence is also a fragment-like construction, and “there seems to have balance” is not a well-formed pattern. Practise building complete sentences and checking agreement and verb forms, while retaining your attempts at complex clauses.
