Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent years, globalization has grown rapidly through the internet, air travel, internnational trade and popular culture. While some people view is increased connection between nations as a very positive development, others have concerns about its impact. In my opinion, globalization brings tremendous benefits to the globe, although it also creates certain challenges that need to be addressed.

On the one hand, globalization has a significant improved through the internet and others way, as well as improved our daily lives and the global economy. Through the international trade, people can buy products from all over the world, giving consumers more choices and lower prices. Additionally, advancements in the air travel and the internet people can easily communicate instatntly across borders, study abroad, and share cultural ideas. For example, popular movies, music and art from different countries are now easily accessible globally, which is helps people learn about and appreciate other culture.

On the other hand, rapid globalization has some negative consequences. One major concern is the loss of lkocal culture and traditions. As global brands and western popular culture tend to dominate local barnds and their markets. Furthermore, Increased of global trade and manufacturing can lead to environmental problems, such as higher carbon emissions from shipping goods worldwide.

In conclusion, while globalization has some downside like environemnatl concerns and the risk of losing traditionas and culture, its benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. By concerning nations, its boosts economic growth and promotes cultural understanding, making it an overall positive for the modern world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both the positive view and the drawbacks, and your own position is clear: globalisation’s benefits outweigh its disadvantages. The examples of wider consumer choice, easier communication and access to international films and music are relevant and help explain the benefits. You also identify cultural loss and emissions from shipping as concerns. This meets the task well, but the discussion is uneven: the benefits receive more explanation, while the negative points are mostly stated rather than developed with examples or consequences. The final claim that globalisation promotes economic growth and cultural understanding would be stronger if you explained how these outcomes follow from your examples. More balanced development and support would make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion that restates your position. The progression from trade and communication to cultural exchange is easy to follow, and signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the organisation clear. Cohesive devices are generally effective, though the argument sometimes feels like a list of points rather than a fully connected discussion. For example, the sentence about global brands dominating local markets is not clearly linked to the preceding point about cultural loss. Use referencing and linking phrases to show cause and effect, and connect each example more explicitly to the main claim of its paragraph.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “international trade,” “carbon emissions,” “global brands,” and “cultural understanding,” which helps communicate the main ideas. There is some variety in how you describe globalisation’s effects, but inaccurate word forms, spelling and collocations are noticeable and sometimes make phrases difficult to interpret. Examples include “a significant improved,” “others way,” “loss of lkocal culture,” and “concerning nations.” Some expressions are also imprecise, such as “a very positive development” and “some downside.” Aim to check spelling carefully and learn common word partnerships, such as “significantly improved” or “increased connectivity.” More precise vocabulary would make your points clearer and give you greater flexibility in discussing the topic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession in the introduction (“although it also creates certain challenges”) and a relative clause in “which is helps people learn.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For instance, “While some people view is increased connection” has an incomplete or incorrectly formed clause, and “advancements in the air travel and the internet people can easily communicate” lacks a clear main verb structure. There are also errors in agreement and sentence construction, as in “which is helps.” Work on building complete clauses, checking subject–verb agreement, and using articles and prepositions accurately. Practising complex sentences with one clear main clause will improve control.
