Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You take a generally positive view of globalisation and give relevant reasons, including trade, employment, tourism and educational opportunities. The examples of resource exchange between countries and New Zealand’s tourism website help illustrate your points. However, the task asks you to discuss the view and give your own opinion; your position is implied rather than clearly stated and consistently explained. The response mainly lists benefits, with little consideration of why some people might disagree or of any limitations. Several claims, such as globalisation boosting the entire world economy, are asserted without enough explanation. State your opinion directly in the introduction and conclusion, and develop fewer points with clearer cause-and-effect reasoning and specific support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response contains a sequence of related ideas, moving from trade to tourism and education, and linking phrases such as “apart from that” and “simultaneously” show an attempt to connect points. However, the ideas are presented as one continuous block rather than organised into clear paragraphs, so the reader has difficulty seeing the introduction, separate arguments and conclusion. Progression is also limited: several benefits are added one after another without explaining how they relate to the central opinion. Some connections are unclear, particularly the shift from trade to internet-based tourism and then scholarships. Use distinct paragraphs for your position, each main argument and the conclusion, and make links between sentences more precise and less list-like.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-relevant vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “economic activities,” “surplus amount of resources,” “tourism sector” and “higher education.” This gives you some means of discussing the subject, but the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or repetitive, sometimes making meaning harder to follow. Examples include “the essence of the increased in the standard,” “the aware of each others growtn,” and “positive approach.” Spelling errors such as “acitivities,” “improvment” and “employement” are noticeable, while repeated use of “increase” and “different countries” reduces variety. Build accuracy with common collocations and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer sentences and use structures such as “not only … but also,” as well as clauses beginning with “as” and “that.” However, control is inconsistent: many sentences contain errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence boundaries, which can make the message difficult to interpret. For example, “the nation having surplus amount of resources can export the same the nations lack” lacks a clear grammatical connection, and “this trade will also results” has an incorrect verb form. Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, with several ideas joined into long run-on sentences. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using correctly formed subordinate clauses and conjunctions; proofread for subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
