Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both the positive effects of globalisation and a concern about powerful countries, and your opinion—that increased connection is beneficial—is clear in the introduction. Relevant examples include social media, tourism’s contribution to countries such as Switzerland, and international organisations. However, the discussion is uneven: the benefits receive several examples, while the criticism of the UN and powerful nations is introduced briefly and not fully explained. Some claims, such as globalisation improving infrastructure and employment, would be more convincing with a specific explanation of how this happens. Develop the counterpoint and connect it more directly to your final judgement so that all parts of the discussion are covered with similar depth.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs generally group related points: technology and trade are discussed together, followed by international organisations. However, progression within paragraphs can feel like a list of examples rather than a developed line of reasoning. The repeated opening “In the modern era” and “Nowadays” also makes the organisation somewhat formulaic. Some links between ideas are unclear, particularly the move from the benefits of globalisation to the criticism of the UN, and the conclusion’s “however” does not clearly show how the final concern qualifies your positive opinion. Use clearer topic sentences and explain the relationship between each example and your main point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “employment opportunities,” “trade agreements,” “infrastructure,” and “international conflicts.” These terms help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally understandable. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “golbalization,” “indusrial,” “asistance,” and “bossed around.” Some expressions are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “a sense unity” and “the overall GDP of countries.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, and avoid repeating broad terms such as “people,” “countries,” and “world” when a more specific reference is possible. This would make your vocabulary more precise and fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including examples with “Because of the internet” and “However,” and most of your meaning can be followed. Some grammatical errors nevertheless occur across the response. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “The social media trends has” and “countries like China has”; articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “a sense unity” and “As a result, has been unable to resolve.” There are punctuation and spacing issues, such as the missing space after “people.” and before “It,” and the final sentence contains an unclear contrast. Review agreement, articles, and complete sentence structure, then proofread punctuation. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to read.
