Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both benefits and a drawback, and your examples about oil trade and employment are relevant to international interaction. However, the task asks whether increased interaction through globalisation is a good thing and for your own opinion. Your opening only says there are “advantages and disadvantages,” while the conclusion repeats that it can be beneficial but has disadvantages; neither makes your overall judgement sufficiently clear. The discussion is also narrow: the travel paragraph mainly describes ease of crossing a border, and the trade example’s link between good relations, tariffs and cheaper products needs clearer explanation. State your position directly and develop each main point with a more precise explanation of how globalisation affects people or countries.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and a drawback, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Secoundly” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the first benefit paragraph moves from goods to tariffs and then oil without clearly connecting each step, while the travel paragraph shifts from border access to economic growth and “unique goods.” Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “both the countries” and “it” are not always clear. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then explain and illustrate that point in a more orderly sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “globalization,” “tariffs,” “economy,” “labour cost” and “unemployment,” so the reader can identify the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word-choice or spelling errors make parts harder to understand. For example, “unique goods which both the countries produce and ask higher amount” is unclear, and “easy excess of travel” appears to mean easier access to travel. There are also repeated forms such as “good relation” and “both the countries,” alongside misspellings including “gobalization,” “tarde” and “Secoundly.” Build a more accurate set of collocations for trade, travel and employment, and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “because” and “therefore,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and sentence structure occur in phrases such as “they shares their border” and “the product will get cheaper,” where the intended number and reference are unclear. Several sentences are joined or punctuated incorrectly, including “A Drawback could be unemployment.for example,” and the long sentence beginning “Labour in country b is more cheaper.” Articles and plural forms are also often missing or inconsistent. These problems sometimes make the reader work to understand the relationships between ideas. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using subordinate clauses while checking agreement, articles and sentence boundaries.
