Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall opinion that globalisation is positive, and you support it with relevant points about shared knowledge, international study and access to research. These examples show an understanding of the topic. However, the discussion is weighted heavily towards your own positive view: the opposing view is only briefly introduced as what “some communities believe,” without explaining why people might disagree. Several ideas, such as helping one another and protecting the planet, remain broad rather than being developed with specific reasoning. To strengthen the response, discuss at least one contrasting perspective and explain the consequences of your examples more fully, while keeping your position clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The main direction is generally understandable, and phrases such as “for instance” and “To conclude” help signal examples and closure. However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven. The second paragraph moves quickly from science to air travel, culture, trade and student migration, so the links between points are not always clear. Connectors such as “so,” “due to” and “in my opinion” are repeated or used mechanically, and some references, including “this” and “these achievements,” have unclear antecedents. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it in a deliberate sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “technological advancement,” “shared knowledge” and “research articles.” This allows you to communicate the central ideas and attempt some more specific language. However, the range is limited by repeated general words such as “things,” “people” and “good,” while several word choices or collocations are inaccurate: “connected the world together,” “reach anywhere virtually” and “overall planets well being.” Spelling errors such as “coutries,” “acheivments” and “globalistion” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise vocabulary for describing benefits and impacts, and check spelling and natural word combinations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including conditional and relative structures, but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries: “this technological advancement connected the world” needs a suitable tense, while “which making people lives easier” lacks a finite verb and has incorrect agreement. The opening also contains a run-on sequence, and several sentences begin with lowercase letters after full stops. These problems sometimes make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building accurate sentences around one main clause, then add subordinate clauses only when you can control their verb forms and punctuation. Proofread for complete sentences and consistent capitalisation.
