Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent times, globalisation has witnessed a substantial rise because of the internet, air transportation and entertainment media. Many people think it is a positive development as the interactions among nations have increased. In this essay I will discuss this trend and give my personal opinions.

Globalisation has helped nations to create strong relationships among themselves. Countries are able to help each other with trade and businesses that is helping to boost the economy. Countries now import and export lot of goods between themself, which help them to release the stress from local market and build strong bond. Many countries export their home grown goods to other countries in return of foreign products and people are also doing businesses abroad sitting at their home making businesses. Consequently, the economy of involving countries are improving significantly. For example, Bangladesh imports a variety of garment materials to India and in return the country exports crops and grocerries and its helping both the countries to address their needs.

Another positive impact of globalisation is that it is creating cultural diversity. As technology and digital media have progressed, people from different nationalities are exchanging cultures between themselves. Because of internet and social, it has become relatively easier to connect with people from different nationalities. People can now consume art from different countries and know about their history and culture and take inspiration from them. These cultural exchanges is creating bond beyond boundaries. As a result, the culture of a country is getting enriched through foreign influence, creating harmony between people and communities. For example, Bengali songs and dramas are reaching to a wider audience through internet and people from other nationalities are understanding our culture.

In conclusion, i think globalisation is creating a positive impact on the countries through cultural exchange and helping with the economy by creating strong relationships. Moreover, it is really crucial for nations to improve their relationships as it would help with their further development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the prompt by presenting globalisation as beneficial and supporting this view with two relevant areas: economic cooperation and cultural exchange. Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion, and the examples about Bangladesh’s trade with India and Bengali media help make the discussion specific. However, the task asks you to discuss the view as well as give your opinion; the response focuses almost entirely on advantages, so the discussion of the view is not fully balanced or explored. Some points also need fuller explanation: for instance, the claim that trade reduces pressure on local markets is not clearly connected to how this happens, and the cultural benefits are asserted more than demonstrated. Develop the reasoning behind each example and clarify your own assessment of the benefits.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two focused body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs progress logically from economic links to cultural exchange, and signposts such as “Another positive impact” and “In conclusion” make the organisation easy to follow. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent arrangement and shows some of the stronger control associated with more flexible progression. However, several links are mechanical or unclear. In the first body paragraph, “which help them to release the stress from local market” does not clearly show how the preceding trade relationship leads to this result. The repeated use of “countries,” “people” and “culture” also makes connections feel less precise. Use clearer referencing and vary transitions so relationships between claims and examples are explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “cultural diversity,” “foreign influence,” “economy” and “cultural exchanges.” These choices allow you to discuss both trade and culture, and some phrases show an attempt to use more formal language. There are also several inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision, such as “release the stress from local market,” “businesses abroad sitting at their home,” and “economy of involving countries.” Spelling errors such as “grocerries” and “themself” are noticeable, though the intended meaning is generally recoverable. Aim for more natural collocations and check word forms and spelling; precise phrasing will make your arguments sound more fluent and academic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “because,” “as” and “which.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “trade and businesses that is helping” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “These cultural exchanges is creating” should use a plural verb. There are also errors in articles, plurals and sentence construction, as in “import and export lot of goods” and “the economy of involving countries are improving.” Capitalisation is inconsistent in “i think,” and some long sentences would benefit from clearer punctuation. Work on agreement, articles and sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
