Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowadays, it is thought that globalisation has accelerated due to the internet, travel by air, global trade, and popular culture. While, according to many people, it is a good thing that globalisation has increased interaction between different nations. I beleive that globalisation has made it possible for people from different parts of the world to come close and share thier cultures, thoughts, and even their life styles.

Undeniably, globalisation has transformed the world into a global village where distances have shrinked. It is now possible to travel around the world for a meeting, business trip or pleasure, all within the span of a single day through air travel. Moreover, internet has made it possible to communicate globally at any time. Through internet peoplle can connect to anyone by means of voice call, video calls, and by email. Doctors can even perfrom surgeries online, that is really a break through in medical industry as significantly reduces the travel time by doctors and can have terminal effect patients life.

Trading globally is now possible, factories and industries can now supply their products to anywhere, companies and free lancers provide their services all across the world. On the other hand, consumers have a wide range of options available as they can source the required product from anywhere in the world. More importantly, globalisation has impacted the spread of culture, for instace, it has made English, a global language.

In my opinion, globalisation has more advantages then disadvantages. It has clearly change the current world and this change is continuous with more and more advancements in the technology everyday.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the topic and give a clear positive view, especially in the opening and conclusion, and your examples cover travel, communication, trade and culture. However, the task asks you to discuss the view that increased interaction is beneficial, while much of the response describes globalisation’s effects rather than explaining how these effects improve interaction or considering a counterpoint. The online surgery example is relevant but unclear: explain how it enables international cooperation and what benefit follows. The claim that English has become a global language also needs development, such as how this helps people communicate across borders. To strengthen the response, explain the significance of each example and develop your position with more specific reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on travel and communication, one on trade and culture, and a concluding opinion. This makes the main line of thought easy to follow. You also use linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “More importantly.” At times, however, the connections between ideas are abrupt or unclear. For example, the move from online communication to remote surgery needs an explanation of their relationship, and “On the other hand” introduces consumer choice rather than a clear contrast. The conclusion repeats the general view without drawing together the examples. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s central point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “global village,” “global trade,” “consumers,” and “a wide range of options.” These choices help you discuss several aspects of globalisation, and the intended meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some spelling and word-choice errors, such as “beleive,” “thier,” “shrinked,” and “perfrom,” which reduce accuracy. Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural: “terminal effect patients life” does not clearly express the intended benefit, and “factories and industries can now supply their products to anywhere” is awkward. Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling; choosing precise wording will make your examples more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a contrast clause beginning “While” and sentences with “as” and “that.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. The opening “While” clause is a fragment because it has no main clause, and “globalisation has clearly change” has an incorrect verb form. There are also issues with articles and sentence construction, as in “internet has made it possible” and “as significantly reduces the travel time.” The sentence about online surgery is difficult to follow because its clauses are not joined clearly. Review complete sentence structure, subject–verb agreement, verb forms and article use, then proofread complex sentences for clear clause relationships.
