Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss several relevant benefits of globalisation and state a clear overall view that it is “largely beneficial.” The examples about IT employment in India, international research during COVID-19, and students studying abroad help address the question. However, the opposing view is only briefly acknowledged: “critics highlight certain drawbacks” is not followed by a clear explanation of what those drawbacks are. Some supporting points are also under-developed, particularly the claim that cultural exchange reduces conflict, and the conclusion introduces an unclear point about “good interactions with the clients” rather than consolidating your main reasons. Develop the counterargument and explain each example’s significance more fully to make the response more complete and persuasive.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for economic, educational and cultural benefits, a paragraph on managing disadvantages, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Secondly,” “Thirdly,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. However, progression is weakened by abrupt transitions and unclear links between ideas. For example, the sentence beginning “In my opinion, negative effects can controlled” moves quickly from government support to protecting culture without showing how these measures address the earlier concerns. The conclusion also adds a new, confusing point. Use clearer topic sentences, connect examples explicitly to the claim they support, and ensure each paragraph develops one main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “international trade,” “living standards,” “researchers,” “traditional culture,” and “open-minded.” These choices show an attempt to discuss economic, educational and cultural effects rather than relying only on very general language. However, spelling errors and inaccurate word forms or collocations are frequent enough to make some phrases difficult to understand, as in “globlisation,” “increased between countries,” and “produce vaccine quickly.” Some wording is also imprecise, such as “the problem” when referring to problems researchers address. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing natural combinations of words; a wider range will be more effective when used precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and more complex structures, including a concessive opening with “Although” and a conditional idea about how governments can respond. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles and verb forms sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “globalisation bring people closer together when we meet people” lacks agreement and needs clearer clause boundaries, while “negative effects can controlled” is missing a verb form. Punctuation also does not consistently separate complete ideas, especially in the long sentence about government support. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check each sentence for complete verbs and clear punctuation.
