Student answer (Band 5.5)

Globalisation have spontaneously grown in today's world due to some of the factors such as internet, air travel and popular culture. In addition, lot of people believe that globalisation has fostered many nations to develop good relationship with each other. In my point of view, the given statement has enormous amount of causes and related solutions and in this essay, I am going to discuss the same with valid and pertaining examples.

Nowadays, tourism has captivated lot of visitors all over the globe. Even though tourism does not account for globalisation primarily but it is considered to be the predominant factor for cash flow in a country. Tourism has boosted considerable amount of cash flow in every nation, one such country is thailand. For instance, Thailand's primary cash flow comes majorly from tourism, this has not only boosted the finacial aspect of the country, but also has established it's culture to the world. Thus, tourism has not only boosted the cash flow of country but also improved the awareness of their culture throughout the world.

Trade agreement between two countries are common in recent times. Countries such as Israel, Iran and Russia are abundant with lot of crude oil, these resources are exported to other countries via ship. As a result, countries which imports oil from these countries tend to create a strong relationship in the future.

In conclusion, activities like use of social media, tourism, and cultural awareness has spontaneously increased globalisation and also created a strong relationship among all the countries. If countries embrace these kind of activities, then globalisation would even be faster.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response discusses several effects of globalisation, including tourism, cultural awareness and trade, and gives examples such as Thailand and oil exports. However, it only partially addresses the central question: whether increased interaction between nations is a good thing. The opening says the statement has “causes and related solutions,” which does not establish a clear opinion, and the conclusion supports faster globalisation without explaining why this is beneficial. The body paragraphs mainly describe economic or cultural effects rather than evaluating the view or considering a contrasting perspective. To strengthen the response, state your position directly and develop each example by explaining how international interaction benefits people or nations, while acknowledging a possible drawback.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs also have identifiable topics: tourism and trade. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “As a result” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships between ideas. However, progression is sometimes unclear: the introduction promises “causes and related solutions,” while the body discusses benefits, and the conclusion introduces social media without developing it earlier. Some connections are asserted rather than explained, particularly the claim that importing oil will create strong relationships. Use topic sentences that directly answer the question, keep each paragraph focused on one developed point, and make the links between evidence and your opinion explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The response uses a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “cash flow,” “trade agreement,” “crude oil” and “cultural awareness.” These choices make the general subject clear, and there are attempts to use more formal expressions. However, several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “spontaneously grown,” “captivated lot of visitors,” “predominant factor for cash flow” and “valid and pertaining examples.” Spelling errors such as “finacial” also reduce accuracy. Some repetition of “boosted” and “cash flow” limits flexibility. Aim for more natural collocations and precise terms—for example, describe tourism as generating revenue and cultural exchange as increasing awareness—rather than relying on broad or awkward phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The essay attempts a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a concession beginning “Even though” and a conditional sentence in the conclusion. Meaning is generally understandable, but errors occur in basic sentence patterns and in longer constructions. For example, “Globalisation have” has subject–verb disagreement, “Trade agreement between two countries are” has a number mismatch, and “countries which imports oil” uses an incorrect verb form. Articles and possessives are also inconsistent, as in “a country” versus “country” and “it's culture” where a possessive form is needed. Comma splices appear in the Thailand example, joining complete clauses with only a comma. Review agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, then check each complex sentence for a clear grammatical structure.
