Student answer (Band 5.5)

Globalization throughout the years plays a huge role in nation's growth through the use of the internet, air travel, trade and popular culture. Exchange of interaction among countries have impacted them positively. In my opinion, globalisation has the power link between culture and economy that countries could benefit.

Through internet people all over the world can easily connect to each other. Because of this people can know the trends and culture of one's country. For example: Sharing your travel vlogs on social media could attract other nations to visit or travel your place and get to know history and the culture of your coutry. This may bring alot of tourists that will have a tendency to boost your country's economy.

Popular culture now a days could easily be recognized worldwide. This is due to famous people who make their countries known for their talent, food and even the way they dress. For instance, the Korean pop culture is now well known worldwide because of their music like BTS, many people engage with K-pop and becoming interested with their arts and music genre.

In conclusion, globalisation has a great effect between nations as they can build good relationships that is benificial for their economy and people.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a relevant, positive view of globalisation and support it with examples about travel vlogs, tourism and Korean popular culture. However, the task asks you to discuss the view and give your own opinion; your position is only briefly stated, and the response does not consider any counterargument or explain the effects of international trade and air travel in depth. Several ideas, such as how tourism benefits an economy, are introduced but not fully developed. The response is 197 words, so it is 53 words below the 250-word minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are not counted. To strengthen the response, state your position clearly and develop two or three reasons with explanation and relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs focused on the internet and popular culture, and a conclusion. This makes the main line of thought easy to follow. You also use basic linking expressions such as “Because of this,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion.” However, progression is somewhat limited: the body paragraphs present separate examples without a fuller explanation linking them to your overall argument, and the conclusion mostly repeats the introduction. Some referencing is unclear, for example “their countries” after “famous people,” and the opening phrase “Exchange of interaction” does not clearly connect to the preceding sentence. Develop each paragraph around one main claim and use clearer references to improve cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “globalisation,” “popular culture,” “tourists,” “economy,” and “trends,” and the examples show an attempt to discuss cultural and economic effects. There is some variety, but several phrases are imprecise or unnatural, such as “Exchange of interaction,” “the power link between culture and economy,” and “travel your place.” Spelling and form errors, including “coutry,” “benificial,” and “alot,” also reduce accuracy. These issues do not prevent the reader from understanding the main ideas, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build a wider set of accurate collocations for discussing international connections, cultural exchange and economic benefits, and proofread spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a reason clause beginning “Because of this” and a relative clause in “famous people who make their countries known.” The main meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction remain. For example, “Exchange of interaction among countries have impacted them” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “globalisation has the power link” is missing a grammatical link such as “to.” The opening sentence also shifts awkwardly between “throughout the years” and “plays.” Practise building accurate complex sentences and check that subjects agree with verbs, verbs have the required forms, and articles are used where needed.
