Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, globalisation has increased rapidly due to internet, airtravel, import/export and popular culture. Many individuals believe that increase interaction behtween countries is a positive development. I believe every statement has its pros and cons. I will elaborate the views and my opinion in further paragraphs.

In this period of modernity, interaction with other countries is very important. It has several benefits. This improves the education as well as the economy of the countries. It allows students to study abroad, with this they will get better education, students get exposure and after they return, they serve their country. Moreover. international trade allows more jobs for the public. On the other hand, It also has some negative aspects. Due to globalization, people are now forgetting their own customs, traditions. Youngsters idiolized celebrities from other culture. Other reason is, small companies may struggle to compete with international companies. And in result, they become insecure and less confident

In my opinion, I strongly believes that globalization is very crucial in many countries. And I think this is a great thing to increased interactions between nations through globalization. Due to globalization, many countires are developing and some are already developed like China and USA. With this, nations can solve all their matters.

In conclusion, every statement has its negative and positive sides. But I think we can ignore this negative side because, if public want they can cope with this. Globalization should b encourage for the future. So, many nations can take the benefits with this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both benefits and drawbacks of globalisation and state a clear preference in the later paragraphs: you call it “a great thing” and argue that nations can benefit from it. Relevant points include overseas study, employment through trade, cultural change, and pressure on small companies. However, the opening claim that every issue has “pros and cons” leaves your position less clear at first, and several ideas are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that globalisation helps nations “solve all their matters” is broad and unsupported, while the China and USA example does not show specifically how global interaction has helped. Develop fewer points with a concrete explanation or example, and make your position consistent from the introduction onward.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

Your response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph presenting advantages and disadvantages, a paragraph giving your opinion, and a conclusion. Basic linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the second paragraph moves quickly from education to trade, then to cultural identity and business competition, without clearly separating or connecting these points. Some transitions are awkward, and the conclusion repeats the general pros-and-cons idea rather than drawing together the main reasons. Use one focused paragraph for benefits and another for drawbacks, with clear topic sentences and references that show how each example supports your argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “international trade,” “customs,” “traditions,” and “compete,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “positive development” and “crucial.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, including “increased interaction” without an article, “idiolized celebrities,” and “take the benefits.” Spelling errors such as “behtween,” “countires,” and “encourage” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of natural phrases for discussing cultural exchange, economic effects, and competition, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you explain your ideas without relying on broad expressions such as “great thing.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a conditional idea (“if public want they can cope with this”) and a sentence explaining what students do after returning home. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur in basic sentence patterns as well as longer ones. Examples include “I strongly believes,” “globalization should b encourage,” and “Many individuals believe that increase interaction,” where agreement, verb form, or sentence construction is faulty. Punctuation and sentence boundaries also need attention: “Moreover. international trade…” and “public. On the other hand” interrupt the flow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and complete clauses first, then build longer sentences using conjunctions while checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb.
