Student answer (Band 6.0)

The internet, air travel, trade and popular culture have caused the increase of globalisation process which leads to more interaction among different nations. Some individuals think that this is beneficial. I agree with the opinion.

Firstly, globalisation connects many nations through trade, tourism, culture and internet. This results in greater economic opportunities for people. Citizens from one country can go to another or even get financial benefit from other countries. For example, They can get a job in another country if the relation between their home country and destination country is good. Businessess can also get more investment and projects, which will contribute to economical growth.

On the other hand, idea and knowledge also flows because of globalisation. As the internet grew popular everyone knows what is happenning in any corner of the world. If there is an injustice in one country people from other countries can support them by influencing their government to be vocal and because countries has to maintain a good ralationship in the present world they cannot do as they please. For example, women all over the world is trying to support Afghan women and children by creating awareness. Also, people themselves are more informed about their rights and they can spread what is happenning to them by using internet.

To sum it up, globalisation has enabled the flow of idea, money, people, technology and media. This has created dependence between the countries which gives people more power to connect. This gives people the chance to be more financially developed by using the additional opportunities they are getting.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address the question and state a clear position in the introduction: “I agree with the opinion.” The response gives relevant reasons, including economic opportunities and the spread of information that can help people respond to injustice. The examples about employment abroad and support for Afghan women make these points more concrete. However, the discussion is not equally developed: the economic paragraph explains its benefits, while the second paragraph’s claim that international relationships can influence governments is less fully explained. The conclusion summarises the benefits but does not add much to the argument. To strengthen the response, explain the mechanisms and consequences of each example more fully, and make your own assessment of why the benefits outweigh any possible drawbacks explicit. The length requirement is met; eight words copied from the prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting benefits, and a concluding summary. “Firstly” and “On the other hand” signal paragraph transitions, and the ideas generally progress from economic connections to the exchange of information. However, “On the other hand” suggests a contrast, although this paragraph continues to support globalisation rather than presenting an opposing view. Some links between claims are also abrupt: the move from international awareness to governments being unable to “do as they please” needs a clearer explanation. References such as “This” in the conclusion are broad and could point more precisely to the preceding ideas. Use transitions that reflect the actual relationship between points and connect each example explicitly to its main claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic-related vocabulary, including “economic opportunities,” “investment,” “injustice,” “awareness,” and “dependence.” These choices help communicate the main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some inaccurate word forms, spelling errors, and awkward collocations that limit precision: “economical growth” is less suitable than “economic growth,” while “the flow of idea” and “what is happenning” are not natural or correctly formed. “Businessess” and “ralationship” also contain spelling errors. Aim to use common academic collocations accurately before reaching for more complex phrasing. For example, describe how globalisation “creates employment opportunities” or “raises awareness of human-rights issues” to express your points more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional and subordinate clauses, as in “if the relation between their home country and destination country is good.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. In “idea and knowledge also flows,” the plural subject requires “flow”; “everyone knows what is happening” needs a correctly formed embedded clause; and “countries has to maintain” requires subject–verb agreement. There are also errors in articles and plurals, such as “the idea” or “ideas” and “women … are trying.” To improve, check agreement and noun number carefully, and proofread verb forms in longer sentences. Greater accuracy in these areas, alongside your existing sentence variety, would make the argument easier to follow.
