Student answer (Band 6.0)
In past few decades, internet has enabled the rapid increase in globalisation in terms of travelling by air, trading commodities and popular culture. Many people argue that the increased global interaction is a positive development. This is due to mass media applications that enable interaction between people of different countries. I believe it is truely a positive development for several nations because international travel has increased tourism and exchange of cultures among people.
The major reason why the interaction between countries have increased through globalisation is the increased use of social media applications in recent years. Through this platform, people from different countries share information about their cultures and clothing styles, especially famous influencers and celebrities. These people often influence the younger generations from all over the world. For example, many youtubers in foreign countries often advice young people about fashion, business, life goals and financial literacy. As a result, people from different countries exchange their ideas and values over social media platforms.
I believe that the rapid increase in globalisation is also due to increase in the number of people travelling to international destinations. Many people have started to invest in international trips to experience various cultures and the way of living in different countries. The tourism of many countries have also increased since the past few years. For example, many people are believed to spend their money on foreign vacations instead of buying luxury items. This has led to more and more interaction between people of various nations.
In conclusion, although social media applications has led to increased globalisation, I believe that the increased international travel has an equal contribution to the same.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You present a clear positive view and give relevant reasons, particularly the role of social media in sharing cultural ideas and the contribution of international travel and tourism. These points address the topic, but the discussion is uneven: the first body paragraph explains online influence with examples, while the travel paragraph mainly describes people taking holidays and spending money. The task asks you to discuss the view that increased interaction between nations is beneficial, so explain more directly what benefits this interaction brings—for example, greater cultural understanding or economic opportunities—and develop the examples to show those effects. The conclusion restates the two causes of globalisation rather than clearly summarising why you consider its effects positive. This leaves some ideas under-developed and the response does not fully explore the task’s central claim.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Each body paragraph focuses on a distinct factor, and phrases such as “For example” and “As a result” help signal examples and outcomes. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes loose. The introduction says mass media explains the positive view, but the body paragraphs present social media and travel as causes without consistently connecting them to the benefits of international interaction. The conclusion’s “although” construction also suggests a contrast that is not developed, before shifting to travel’s “equal contribution.” Make the relationship between each main point and your opinion explicit, and use the conclusion to synthesise the argument. This would make the cohesion less mechanical and the line of reasoning clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “international destinations,” “exchange of cultures,” “financial literacy” and “tourism.” These choices make the subject clear, and the examples show an attempt to use more specific language. Some word choices and collocations are less natural or imprecise, however: “invest in international trips” would be more naturally expressed as “spend on overseas travel,” and “the tourism of many countries have also increased” does not convey the intended idea precisely. There are also spelling or form slips such as “truely” and “advice” where the verb “advise” is needed. Aim for more accurate collocations and vary repeated terms such as “increased” and “people from different countries” to improve precision and flexibility.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including a relative clause in “applications that enable interaction” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “the interaction … have increased” and “The tourism … have also increased”; these subjects require singular verb forms. Articles are missing in “In past few decades” and “internet has enabled,” while “social media applications has led” also has an agreement error. The final sentence’s “although” clause is not completed with a clear contrasting idea. Review articles and agreement, and check that subordinating conjunctions express the intended relationship. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control without sacrificing the range you already attempt.
