Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a clear overall view that interaction between nations is beneficial, and you offer relevant reasons, including trade, access to products, cultural exchange and support between countries. The example involving China, Turkey and India also attempts to show how international relationships can have practical effects. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the example is difficult to follow and does not clearly explain how it demonstrates globalisation, while claims such as “the economies of sale is high” are not explained. The task asks you to discuss the view as well as give your opinion; most of the response supports the positive side, with little consideration of possible drawbacks or of why others might disagree. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response begins with general points, gives an example, adds further advantages and ends with a conclusion. Paragraph breaks also help separate parts of the discussion. However, the progression between ideas is not consistently clear, and several points are crowded into long sentences, particularly the account of the conflict and the final paragraph about culture, imports and jobs. Linking phrases such as “for example,” “in my opinion” and “in conclusion” are useful, but connections between individual claims are often missing or repetitive. Some references, including “it” and “such nation,” are unclear. Use one main idea per paragraph, explain how each example supports it, and make references explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You attempt vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “trade,” “culture diffusion,” “relations,” “economies” and “opportunity for jobs.” These choices show that you can communicate several relevant ideas. However, the range is limited and some expressions are repeated, especially “good relations” and “other country.” Frequent spelling errors and inaccurate word forms, such as “opionin,” “diffrents” and “devolpe,” make the writing harder to read. Some combinations are also unnatural or unclear, for example “economies of sale” and “dominated the war.” Build a more precise set of topic vocabulary and check spelling and collocations; for instance, use “economic benefits” or “employment opportunities” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to connect ideas using longer sentences and clauses, and the reader can generally identify your main position. However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and attempts to combine several ideas often produce faulty sentences. For example, “we makes multiples deals” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, while “they gets cheap product” has agreement and number errors. Articles and sentence boundaries are also frequently missing, as in the opening run-on sentence. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to understand. Practise forming accurate simple sentences first, then join them with conjunctions or relative clauses. Check verb agreement, plural forms, articles and full stops during revision.
