Student answer (Band 6.5)

In the recent years, the world has become interconnected than even before due to internet, air travel, international trade and the famous culture. This phenomena ,known as globalisation, has lead to the greater interaction between nations. Many people argue that this is a positive developmet and I completely agree with this view.

Globalisation has rapidly increased due to several factors. The first is technology. The internet and smartphones have removed borders. The second is affordable air travel and international trade, which allow people and products to move easier. For example, a young businessman from Gujranwala can now make a website on the internet anf then send his products to the UK or Dubai by air-cargo,which shows how both technology and trade work together.

Many people correctly believe that this interaction is good thing because of its economic and educational benefits.Economically,it creates jobs and reduce poverty. For instance, the IT industry in Pakistan earn billion of dollars because our youth provides service to the online.Educatinally,it gives access to knowledge.Platfoms like YouTube and Google allow everyone to learn English or any skill for free.Culturally,it promotes tolerance. When people watch Turkish dramas,Hollywood movies and listen to K-pop,they start to understand and respects other culture, which reduces the conflict.

From my perspective,I strongly believe that globalisation is the good thing.Although threats to culture and local business is real, they can be controlled by good government policies. The benefits of economic growth, tourism and culture understanding is much bigger. In todays world,no country can survive in isolation.

In conclusion, globalisation has made a world global village. While some people worry about its effect on local culture and economy,I beieve that adavantages of trade, educatiaon and culture exchange far outweigh the disadvanages. Therefore, interaction between the nations seems as a positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

You address both the view that globalisation is beneficial and your own opinion, which is stated clearly in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Your economic, educational and cultural reasons are relevant, and examples such as online services in Pakistan and access to YouTube and Google help support them. You also acknowledge concerns about local culture and businesses, showing awareness of a counterargument. The discussion is generally extended, but some claims remain broad: for example, saying globalisation “reduces the conflict” would be stronger with a clearer explanation of how cultural exposure leads to this outcome. Develop the counterargument and explain the examples’ effects more precisely to make the support consistently convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The response has a clear overall progression: it introduces globalisation, explains its drivers, discusses benefits, states your position and concludes. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and signposts such as “For example,” “From my perspective” and “In conclusion” make the argument easy to follow. The ideas within the benefits paragraph are also grouped by economic, educational and cultural effects. At times, however, the linking is somewhat formulaic, particularly the repeated use of “The first,” “The second” and explicit transition phrases. Some connections between claims could be made more smoothly—for instance, explain how the examples of international entertainment support the claim about tolerance. More varied, precise transitions and clearer links between evidence and conclusions would strengthen the flow.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “interconnected,” “international trade,” “economic growth,” “tolerance” and “isolation.” These choices allow you to discuss several dimensions of globalisation, and the meaning is generally clear. However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or imprecise, such as “the famous culture,” “provides service to the online” and “culture understanding.” Spelling errors, including “developmet,” “Educatinally” and “disadvanages,” also reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully; for example, use “popular culture,” “provide online services” and “cross-cultural understanding.” This would make your vocabulary more natural and precise while retaining the useful range already present.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “international trade, which allow people and products to move” and a concession beginning “Although threats to culture and local business is real.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur in agreement, articles and verb forms. Examples include “this is positive development,” “it creates jobs and reduce poverty,” “the IT industry … earn,” and “the benefits … is much bigger.” There are also punctuation and spacing issues, such as missing spaces after commas. Review subject–verb agreement and article use, then proofread sentence boundaries and punctuation. More consistently accurate complex sentences would improve control without requiring more complicated ideas.
