Student answer (Band 6.0)
Advancement in technology, reliable air travel, international trading and popular culture has contributed to the growth of globalisation. Most people support the idea of icreased import and exports between nations is a good thing. I believe that, globalisation offers more advantages than disadvantages.
Many countries have entered into trade agreements that benefits all involved parties. Because of these bilateral trade relations, countries will be able to import goods or services at a lesser cost, as some import and export taxes will be waivered. In addition, trading allows countries that have excess production export to other nations, for example Australia exports lamb to some European markets, subsequently contributing to the country's gross domestic product(GDP). Coversely, Australia imports rice from China to meet the demand of the grain because, the country does not have a condusive environment to grow the crop.
Opening the boarders to travel does not only contribute to the GDP, it also provides the opportunity for tourists to experience different cultures. Through the internet people across the globe are exposed to the beautiful picturesque of Australia or any other country, consequently people will be drawn to visit the country or town to experience the beauty in person. Furthermore, popular culture has the power to unify the world especially through music. Heal the world a song by Michael Jackson and various artists was a global sensation, it helped spread love and to care for the next person.
One major drawback with international trade, is the inability to control substances and chemicals used in production of the goods being imported. Inevitably, some products that do not meet the standards might end up on the shelves in the supermarkets.
In conclusion, I agree with the notion that globalisation is a good thing as it plays a greater role in suplementing

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe globalisation brings more advantages than disadvantages, and you discuss trade, tourism, cultural exchange and one drawback. The examples of Australian lamb exports and rice imports help make the trade discussion relevant, while the Michael Jackson song illustrates cultural influence. However, the response develops the benefits more fully than the drawback, which is mentioned only briefly, and the conclusion is incomplete: it ends with “as it plays a greater role in suplementing” without completing the idea. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of the product-safety concern and finish by summarising why the benefits outweigh it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs on trade and travel/culture, a paragraph on a drawback, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “In addition,” “Furthermore,” and “In conclusion” help signal the progression. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however: “subsequently contributing” does not clearly show how the export example relates to the preceding point, and the shift from tourism to popular culture within one paragraph brings together two distinct ideas. The final sentence also stops before completing the conclusion, weakening the overall sense of closure. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and consider giving tourism and cultural exchange separate, focused development.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “globalisation,” “bilateral trade relations,” “gross domestic product,” “tourists,” and “popular culture.” These choices allow you to discuss several aspects of the topic, and phrases such as “global sensation” are effective. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “increased import and exports,” “lesser cost,” and “beautiful picturesque.” There are also spelling errors such as “icreased,” “Coversely,” “boarders,” “condusive,” and “suplementing.” These do not generally prevent understanding, but they reduce precision. Check spelling carefully and choose natural collocations, such as “imports and exports,” “at a lower cost,” and “scenic beauty.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a conditional explanation (“as some import and export taxes will be waivered”) and a sentence beginning “Although” is not required to express your ideas. Most meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. For example, “trade agreements that benefits” has a subject–verb agreement problem, and “countries that have excess production export” needs a clearer verb structure. The opening sentence also has a long list with a singular verb (“has contributed”) where a plural subject is intended. Punctuation is sometimes inaccurate, as in “I believe that, globalisation” and “because, the country.” Review agreement, sentence construction and comma placement, then proofread each sentence for a complete, clear structure.
