Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify relevant aspects of globalisation, including international trade and learning about other cultures, and you explain that trade may help nations develop. However, the response is incomplete: it stops mid-sentence at “which can lead to the,” so the cultural point is not explained, and you do not give a clear personal opinion or develop both sides of the view. The response contains 101 words, which is 149 words below the required minimum; the eight words copied from the prompt are not counted. This severe lack of development means the task is addressed only partially. To improve, state your position directly, explain at least two reasons with specific examples, and complete the discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic sequence from describing international contact to discussing trade and culture, and the ideas are grouped into separate paragraphs. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the progression is very limited because the response ends before the final idea is completed, and the paragraphs do not develop a clear overall argument. Several points are joined in long strings, such as the opening list of travel, internet communication, popular culture and business, making the relationships between them less clear. The repeated use of “which” also leaves some references uncertain. Use one main idea per paragraph, connect each explanation explicitly to your opinion, and add a concluding sentence to complete the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a relevant set of topic words, including “globalisation,” “international trade,” “import and export,” “culture” and “development,” so the subject is generally clear. However, the range is limited and some expressions are imprecise or awkward, such as “more social” for increased international interaction and “business related persons” for people or companies involved in trade. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “intraction,” and the phrase “the things” is too vague for an academic discussion. Aim for more precise collocations and avoid repeating broad terms such as “nations” and “things.” For example, specify goods, cultural exchange or economic growth where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a relative clause in “which has increased the globalisation” and a reason clause beginning “because it helps.” However, the longer sentences are often difficult to control. The opening sentence joins several ideas without clear punctuation, while “the things which has a positive effect” has a subject–verb agreement problem and an unclear clause structure. The final sentence is unfinished, so it cannot communicate the intended relationship. Most of the response relies on basic sentence patterns, with limited evidence of accurate complex structures. Practise separating lists into complete sentences, checking agreement and clause boundaries, and proofreading punctuation before adding more complex constructions.
