Student answer (Band 5.5)
The given diagram illustrates how a mechanical arm works and as well as how the joints that make up the arm junction in the same way human arm does.
As we can see computer does multifunction work. The motar present in the computer can do allows is the key to all of the parts in mechanical arm. It helps in shoulder to raise or lower the arm As well as it allows the movement and gives more flexibility to work In mechanical arm motars are available at three main parts shoulder, elbow last but not the least gripper. Motar helps the arm in stability as well as flexibility.
There's an alternative to mechanical arm which is very human arm. Human arm usually some people Human arm can do spray paint, drill holes as well as weld metal. However it is better to use mechanical arm because it provide more stability and is more safer

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by describing the mechanical arm, but it fails to effectively compare the mechanical joints with human joints as requested. The description of the mechanical arm is superficial, focusing on motors rather than the structural comparison. The analysis of the diagram is limited, and the inclusion of external information about spray painting and welding is not supported by the provided image, which constitutes an over-generalisation. To improve, you must focus strictly on the information presented in the diagram and ensure all parts of the prompt are covered with equal depth.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'last but not the least'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the vague mention of 'computer' when referring to the mechanical arm. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words to connect ideas and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that progresses the argument logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Words like 'motar' (misspelled) and 'work' are used frequently, which restricts the precision of your writing. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'junction' instead of 'function' and 'more safer', which is a grammatical error affecting lexical accuracy. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise technical terminology related to the diagram and avoid repeating basic verbs. Focus on learning collocations related to mechanical processes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include 'as well as how the joints... junction', 'The motar present in the computer can do allows is the key', and 'it provide more stability and is more safer'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement, correct spelling of technical terms, and the proper use of comparative adjectives. Proofreading for basic sentence construction errors is essential.
