IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how a mechanical arm works, and how the joints that make up the arm function in the same way as those in a human arm. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The diagram demonstrates the working of mechanical arm. It also shows how joints of mechanical work similar to the joints of a human arm.

Overall, the artificial arm is consists of three motors which are controlled by computer. The other significant components are base, shoulder, elbow, wrist and gripper.

There are three motors first one is situated in the shoulder, which is attacthed on a stationary base this motor helps the shoulder to move around. After that a motor is attached in elbow which commands the movement of wrist. the wrist is straight rod which ends in gripper.A motor is located in gripper which is similar to hand and helps to grip an object. It is a tong like structure.
