IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how a mechanical arm works, and how the joints that make up the arm function in the same way as those in a human arm. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given diagram depicts how the mechanical arm works in an environment and what all are the stages included in that while making and also shows how it behaves like human arm. Now let's get into deeper analysis.

This kind of arm consists of one main base which is usually stationary but it will be movable occasionally, above that it contains pivot which enables arm to rotate accordingly and along with that it has shoulder which is to raises/lowers arm. It enlarges and at midpoint, it has elbow shaped material which allows movement or it gives flexibility and in addition to a motor is connected with it, at the end we have gripper which is known as built-in sensors control force, in between motor and gripper there is an large roller called wrist which allows gripper to flex/rotate.

So In this arm, we have 3 installed motors and each will be placed in different places one is in shoulder, another one is in elbow region and final one is in gripper region and these 3 motors are controlled by as usual computers.
