Student answer (Band 5.0)

athe schematic diagram illustrates how mechanical arm works and which are the main parts.

Overall, the mechanical arm is mainly consist of mosters, elbows, gripper , wrist, pivot and computer. elbows and wrist function is flexibility, moters provide necessary power, gripper to hold the object while computer system to control motors.

The base is attached to ground and remained stationary during operations, which support shoulders responsible for up down moments and pivot which allows arm to rotate. On the other end of arm their is another elbow and moter for flexibility and movements of arm.

A wrist is connect gripper to the arm, provide necessary rotation or any other moment required. The wrist can also be connected to another end-effector required. the gripper had built-in

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the task. While you identify the main components of the mechanical arm, the description is incomplete and ends abruptly mid-sentence. You attempt to explain the functions of the joints, but the lack of sufficient detail and the unfinished nature of the report mean that the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you provide a comprehensive overview of all parts shown in the diagram and complete your sentences to provide a full summary of the mechanical processes involved.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear logical structure. While there is an attempt at an introduction and body paragraphs, the paragraphing is underdeveloped, and the flow of information is disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition between the description of the base and the wrist. The text lacks sufficient linking words to guide the reader through the mechanical process. To improve, use clear topic sentences for each paragraph and employ a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition') to connect your ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'mosters' for 'motors', 'moters') and awkward phrasing, such as 'mainly consist of'. You rely on basic terminology and struggle to use more sophisticated vocabulary to describe the mechanical functions. To improve, focus on using precise technical terms related to mechanics and ensure correct spelling. Expanding your range of verbs and nouns will help you describe the diagram with greater clarity and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('mechanical arm is mainly consist of'), missing articles ('attached to ground'), and incorrect word forms ('up down moments'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. The unfinished sentence at the end also indicates a lack of control over sentence structure. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and article usage, before attempting more complex structures.
