IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how a mechanical arm works, and how the joints that make up the arm function in the same way as those in a human arm. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The diagram shows how the Mechanical arm works in the same manner as the human arm.

Overall, the mechanical arm consists of three motors depicting shoulder, elbow and wrist (gripper) of the human arm. These motors are operated by the computer for the precise movements

Usually the base of the arm is stationary, on which the shoulder motor is installed. This motor moves up and down about a pivot point. The elbow is further connected to the extended shoulder, which give the flexible movements.

At the end of elbow, the wrist is coupled. Wrist is having a motor installed at the gripper for different movements. Gripper has the sensors in it to detect and hold the objects to perform different tasks. All these motors are programed and controlled precisely by a computer to give a realistic human arm movement. Moreover instead of the simple end effector ,a spray gun, drill machine or any other sort of machine can be installed to perform the desired task.
