IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how a mechanical arm works, and how the joints that make up the arm function in the same way as those in a human arm. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The image depict how a mechanical arm functions as well as how its services are identical to the human arm. It also indicate the number of instruments which can be attached to arms for certain work.

Overall, the full arm works on 3 identical motors which is controled by the computer with different codes. The arm consits of 6 parts which come together to form a working arm which are base, shoulder, pivot, elbow, wrist and lastly the gripper.

To begin with computer is the mastermind behind the whole process, it carefully controlled the motors with straigth precision without any error. The number of motors which are commanded by the computer is 3. Futhermore, this motor independtly helps the parts to shift themselves. First motor get the shoulder (which is connected to the base) to move in the vertical positive and negative direction. Following motor helps the elbow to move which eventually leads the arm to be more flexible. Moreover the last motor is connceted to the gripper the end part of the arm. As the name suggets it control the force of lifting with a built-in sensors. The mechanical products like spray paint, drilling machine, welding machine which can be attached to the gripper part of the arm.
