IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how a mechanical arm works, and how the joints that make up the arm function in the same way as those in a human arm. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The rendered diagram illustrates how a mechanical arm operates and shows the function of its various b joints and components, which are designed to perform movements similarto those of human arm.

Overall, the mechanical arm is controlled by a computer that precisely operates three motors. The motors allow to arm to perform a range of movements, including raising, lowering, rotating and flexing. At the end of the arm, gripper can be used to hold objects, although alternative too;ls can also be attached fot different tasks.

The arm is moulded on a base, which is normally stationary but can be an pcaasionally be moved. Above the base is the shoulder, which enables the arm to raised. A pivot allows the entire arm to roatate, while the elbow provides movement and flexibility, the wrist allows the gripper to flex and rotate.

At the other hand, the gripper has built in sensors that control the amount of force used when holding an object. In addition , different end reflectors can replace the gripper dependiong on the task. Thus, the computer- controlled motors and joints enable the mechanical arm to carry out a variety of precise industrial activities.
