IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how a mechanical arm works, and how the joints that make up the arm function in the same way as those in a human arm. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The diagram of the mechanical arm shows how it works and how the joints of a mechanical arm make up the arm function as the same way as human arm.

Ovarall, the end result will be the arm that can grip and do tasks a human arm can do. The alternative end-effectors are included spary paint/drill holes/weld metal.

There are three motors in the mechanical arm which which are connected at the joints of the arm. The first motor is connected with the shoulder which is the first moving joint to the base and it helps to raise or lowers the arm. The second motor which installed in the joint called elbow which allows the middle part of the arm to for any movement and gives flexibility. The third motor is the most important one because it is connected with the gripper and sensor.

All motors are precisionally controlled by a computer. Which further controls the arm movement. The whole arm structured on the base which is usually sationary or occasionally movable. Parts such as pivot which helps arm to rotate is also attached to the base or first motor.
