IELTS Writing Task 1 question

The diagram below shows how a mechanical arm works, and how the joints that make up the arm function in the same way as those in a human arm. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The diagram illustrate the working method of a mechanical arm. How it's joints are functions similar to the human arm.

The mechanical arm is not a one thing, it is made up by joining the different components like base, shoulder, pivot, elbow, wrist, gripper. And to conduct these components, there are some motors and sensors are attahced in the mechanical arm. These motors and sensors allows the components to perform. And there is a controller like a computer or remote to control these sensors and motors.

The mechanical arm functions as like the human arm. It has shoulder, elbow, wrist and gripper as like a human arm. The gripper has a built-in sensors to control the force as like a human hand. And it is connected with the elbow through a wrist, which allows the gripper to rotate or flex as like human hand move or rotate by their wrist.

For instant, human move and work with their hand by the sensor that built-up in their mind, on the contrary the mechanical arm functioned as like human arm by the motors and sensors that built-in.
