Student answer (Band 4.0)

THE FOLLOWING DIAGRAM ILLUSTARTES ,HOW A MACHINE ARM PERFORM AND HOW THE JOINTS THAT MAKE UP THE ARM FUNCTION IN THE SAME WAY AS THOSE IN A HUMAN LIMB.

OVERALL, IN THE PICTURE THAT SHOWS FROM MOTOR TO FROM MAKING MACHINE.

INITIALLY, THERE ARE THREE COMPUTER MOTORS IN THE GIVEN FIGURE HOWEVER, THE FIRST MOTOR FIRST MOTOR ASSIST MACHINE TO RAISE SHOULDER RAISES LOWER LIMB WHEREAS, THE SECOND MOTOR IS ALLOW THE MOVEMENT AND GIVES THE FITNESS. IN ADDITION, LAST ONE MOTOR IS TO GRAB SENSOR IN CONTROL FACE. FURTHERMORE, THE DOWNWARD OF GRIPPER WHICH IS IN STRAIGHT LINE IS TO HELP THE GRIPPER FOR ALTERNATIVE END EFFECTOR TO FLEX AND ROTATE. IN CONSTAST, THE END OF THE PICTURE THE STRAIGHT STAND WHICH IS IN SMALL THAT IS TO ENABLE TO LIMBS ROTATE. WHEREAS, THE THREE PICTURE IN BOX IS FIRST ONE PICTURE IN THE BOX IS INCOMPLETE MACHINE WHILE IN THE ANOTHER BOX THE HAS BEEN COMPLETED. LASTLY, A MAN

IS USING THE MACHINE.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response attempts to describe the motors, joints and end-effectors, but the main features are not reported accurately or clearly enough. For example, it says the first motor raises the shoulder and the second gives movement, whereas the diagram links the motors to different parts and labels the shoulder as raising or lowering the arm, the elbow as providing flexibility, and the wrist as allowing the gripper to flex or rotate. The overview, “from motor to from making machine,” does not summarise the diagram’s overall function. The account also misreads the three end-effector illustrations as incomplete and completed machines, then says a man is using the machine. The response is four words below the 150-word minimum, and 19 words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count. Focus on the diagram’s actual labels and give a clear overview.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to organise the response with an opening, an overview and a longer description, and linking expressions such as “Initially,” “In addition” and “Lastly” show awareness of sequencing. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview is unclear and the body moves between motors, joints, the base and the illustrations without a reliable order. Several connectors do not express the relationship between ideas accurately: “In contrast” introduces no clear contrast, while repeated “whereas” clauses make the description harder to track. The final discussion of the three pictures is also confusing. Group the information into a brief overview and a systematic description from the base up to the gripper, then explain the alternative tools in a separate sentence.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “motor,” “shoulder,” “gripper,” “flex” and “rotate,” and attempts more specific terms such as “alternative end effector.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the subject. However, word choice and spelling errors frequently make the intended meaning unclear: “fitness” appears to be intended as flexibility, “grab sensor in control face” does not accurately describe the gripper’s force sensors, and “straight stand” is an imprecise description of the base. There are also conspicuous spelling errors, including “ILLUSTARTES” and “CONSTAST,” and several phrases are not natural collocations. Use the diagram’s exact labels where possible and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts some longer sentences and uses clauses introduced by “whereas” and “which,” but control of sentence structure is inconsistent. For example, “the second motor is allow the movement” has an incorrect verb pattern, and “the first motor first motor assist machine to raise shoulder” lacks clear grammatical relationships and has agreement and article problems. Several sentences run together or contain fragments, making it difficult to identify the subject and action. Capitalisation and punctuation are also unreliable, particularly the all-capital opening and the comma after “ILLUSTARTES.” Build accurate simple sentences first, such as “The shoulder raises and lowers the arm,” then combine related points with correctly formed clauses. Proofreading for verbs, articles and sentence boundaries would improve clarity.
