Student answer (Band 4.5)

The following picture illustrates the work of mechanical arm.It describe that how the joint make up the arm which work in the same way like human arms

Overall the picture define the map of mechanical arm that how it made and work.If work same as human arm. First of all computer-precision is used to controo the motors. Ther are three motors in mechanical arms for different task. The left motor used in shoulder to raise the lower arm.The middle motor is used in elbow to allow movment and give flexibility. The right motor is used in gripper to grip things.

Much more the wrist is used allows to flex and rotate.Pivot is used to enables arm to rotate. A base is used in arm which is movable. Moreover the picture describe that there is a great development in science.

Further more it makes human life is very easy. It can be used in that type of situation where human arm does not work

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the diagram as a mechanical arm and mention several relevant parts, including the computer, motors, wrist, pivot and base. However, some key relationships are misreported: the left motor is linked to the elbow, the middle motor to the wrist area, and the right motor to the gripper—not to the shoulder and elbow as stated. The description also omits the shoulder’s raising/lowering function and the alternative end-effectors for spraying, drilling and welding. The overview is vague, and comments about scientific development and making human life easier are not shown by the diagram. Focus on accurately describing the labelled components and their functions, with a concise overview of how the arm is controlled and what it can do.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence, beginning with an introduction and then listing components, and words such as “Overall,” “First of all” and “Moreover” attempt to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the parts are not grouped or described in a clear physical order, and some links between components are inaccurate. The opening and overview repeat the same general point, while the final comments about science and human life interrupt the diagram description rather than extending it. Paragraphing is also absent. Organise the response into a brief introduction and overview, followed by a logically ordered account of the control system and the arm from base to gripper; use linking phrases only where they clarify relationships.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “motors,” “flexibility,” “gripper,” “wrist” and “pivot,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or repetitive, such as “used in arm” and “used to grip things.” Some spelling errors, including “controo,” “movment” and “Ther,” also reduce clarity. The phrase “the picture define the map” is not a natural way to describe a diagram. Build a more precise set of verbs for describing functions and connections, such as “controls,” “raises,” “rotates” and “is attached to,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences use simple patterns, and frequent errors make some relationships difficult to understand. For example, “It describe that how the joint make up the arm” has problems with subject–verb agreement, plural forms and clause structure. “The left motor used in shoulder to raise the lower arm” is missing a clear verb form and articles, while “Pivot is used to enables arm to rotate” combines incompatible verb patterns. Punctuation is also weak, including missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent sentence boundaries. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add controlled clauses: for example, “The left motor controls the elbow, which allows the arm to bend.” Check agreement, articles and verb patterns in each sentence.
