Student answer (Band 4.5)

The diagram shows a mechanical arm works and the joint that make up the arm function in the same way as those in a human arm. Overall, in this diagram i see computer parts and what is the exactly parts first is computer and their all equipments PC, CPU, Keyboard and mouse. However, computer-precision control of motors that is fixed elbow allowa movements flexibility. In addition, motor gripper-buit-in sensors control force than wrist - allows gripper or alternative end-effector to flex ratate in this mechanical arm work. On the other hand, pivot-enables arm to rotate in machine and shoulder raises or lower arm that should protect their all the base usually stationary/occasionally movable. Furthermore, alternative end effectors spary paint/drill holes/weld metal. If computer and you are fit the same areas and we are inivited for the mechanical to do and shape areas and where to fit its all this computer base. I believe that, a machincal has doing a dill to put a wire for the computer like any in your room their is plug systems that they could make a hole and drill it than after they fixe it computer set.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify several genuine components, including the computer’s motor control, the elbow, wrist, gripper, pivot, shoulder, base and alternative tools. However, the response only minimally summarises how the arm works and does not clearly explain the arrangement or function of its parts. The opening also invents a computer setup involving a PC, CPU, keyboard and mouse, which is not shown. The final discussion about fitting a computer, wiring and drilling is largely unrelated to the diagram. A clear overview should describe the arm’s controlled joints and end-effector, then report the main parts in their physical order and explain that the gripper can be replaced by tools for other tasks.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

There are some attempts to connect ideas, using phrases such as “Overall,” “In addition,” “On the other hand” and “Furthermore.” However, these links do not create a clear progression: the response moves from imagined computer equipment to arm components, then to an unclear discussion of fitting and wiring. Several parts are joined into long, difficult-to-follow sentences, and the relationship between the computer, motors and joints is not explained in a logical sequence. Organise the report into a brief overview followed by a description from the base and shoulder up to the gripper, with the alternative end-effectors mentioned at the end. Use linking words only where they accurately show the relationship between points.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant technical vocabulary from the diagram, including “pivot,” “gripper,” “end-effector,” “sensors” and “flexibility.” This gives the response a basic range of topic-related terms. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make meaning difficult to follow, as in “buit-in,” “ratate,” “spary” and “machincal.” Some phrases are also imprecise or unnatural, such as “computer parts and what is the exactly parts” and “protect their all the base.” Aim to use the diagram’s labels accurately and describe functions with clear collocations, for example, that the shoulder raises or lowers the arm and the pivot allows it to rotate. Avoid adding unrelated vocabulary about room plugs and computer wiring.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts to combine ideas using clauses and conjunctions, but sentence structures are very limited in control, and frequent errors can distort meaning. For example, “The diagram shows a mechanical arm works” needs a structure such as “shows how a mechanical arm works,” while “the joint that make up the arm” has a number-agreement error. In “shoulder raises or lower arm,” the verb forms do not agree, and articles are missing in several descriptions. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are also unclear, particularly in the long final sentence beginning “If computer and you are fit.” Practise writing short, complete sentences first, then combine related points with accurate clauses and consistent verb forms.
