Student answer (Band 5.5)

In last century the climate of the earth has experienced a huge negative change, which is apparent to all people. Nowadays, individuals are more concern about nature that is why eco-tourism is becoming increasingly popular. I believe that this is a positive trend.

Eco-tourism means having minimal impact on nature during exploring a spot. Sometime it include learning about the ecosystem, environment, and even about farming. Some goverment of European countries are constantly encouraging their citizens to choose environmental friendly tourism over traditional one, because during this type of tourism tourist practice environmental friendly activity, which is better for preserving authenticity of natural ecosystem. For instance, eco-tourists are not allowed to left out any kind of trush or westages behind them, killing or hunting, do something which can have detrimental effect on the sorounding spot and so on. Additionally, sometime it consist some lessons like how to grow certain food without causing harm to the environment or visiting a organinc farm.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

Your position is clear at the start: you consider the growth of eco-tourism positive, and you give relevant reasons, including protecting natural areas and teaching visitors about farming and ecosystems. You also acknowledge a drawback—higher costs—and suggest government action. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the environmental benefits are described mainly as rules and activities, without explaining their wider impact, while the cost point is brief and its proposed solution is vague. The conclusion is cut off, so it does not complete your answer or reinforce your position. The response also falls two words short of the required minimum. Develop each main point with a clear explanation or example, and finish with a complete conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, a paragraph on benefits, a paragraph on a drawback, and an attempted conclusion. Linking expressions such as “For instance,” “Additionally,” and “However” help signal examples and contrast. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the explanation of government encouragement moves quickly into visitor rules and then farming lessons without showing how these points connect. Some linking is also awkward or repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “However.” The final sentence ends abruptly, leaving the overall argument without a proper closing. Organise each body paragraph around one main idea, connect supporting details explicitly, and complete the conclusion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “eco-tourism,” “ecosystem,” “preserving,” “detrimental effect,” and “well-being of the environment.” These choices show an attempt to discuss the subject beyond very basic terms. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand, such as “trush or westages,” “sorounding spot,” and “make more profite.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “environmental friendly tourism” and “take those chance.” Aim for accurate collocations and check spelling carefully; precise wording will make your examples and explanations clearer. You could also vary repeated general terms such as “tourism,” “people,” and “environment.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which is better for preserving…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” This gives the response some structural variety. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns, making some meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “individuals are more concern,” “Some goverment … are,” “it eco-tourism have,” and “these problems can be solve.” Articles and verb forms are also unreliable, as in “visiting a organinc farm.” The final sentence is incomplete. Practise subject–verb agreement, verb forms after modal verbs, articles, and sentence completion; then proofread each sentence for a clear subject and main verb.
